UJ Residence Application

** Your residence application will not be processed if the R1220 residence deposit is NOT paid.

If your academic application is not successful 90% of the residence deposit will be refunded (on your request). The Central Placements Office must be informed immediately with regards to any cancellations.

These Rules Are Only Applicable To First-Time Undergraduate And Postgraduate Applicants!

Upload Documents

** Documents required must be certified.
** When uploading documents, ensure that the scanned file is a maximum of 512 KB, and that all documents are scanned in any of the following file types viz. tiff, pdf, jpg or gif.
** Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachment.
** Alternatively, documents can be emailed to ujappdocs AT listsrv.uj.ac.za

Instructions

1. If the R1 100 residence deposit is NOT paid then your application cannot be processed.

2. If you should cancel your residence application or if you do not register AFTER accommodation has been allocated to you, 100% of the deposit will be forfeited. Unless where admission to the university is unsuccessful. If you were not admitted then 90% of the residence deposit will be refunded. The Central Placements Office must be informed immediately with regards to any cancellations.

3. You may only stay on the campus where you attend your studies.
4. No residence transfers are allowed.

5. Please ensure a copy of your proof of payment is uploaded via this web application or emailed to the address below.

6. Please note that this web residence application is NOT applicable to current UJ students. If application is received from a “registered” student then your application will NOT be processed.

Online Payment

Click On Submit Payment. Payment of R1 100, if applying for residence, may be done online using a credit card.
OR if not in possession of a credit card, payment must then be made at an ABSA bank and a copy of the deposit slip and the residence application form (accessible @ www.uj.ac.za/Apply) must be emailed to ujappdocs AT listsrv.uj.ac.za.

Bank Account Number – 2840189565 (If using Student Number*)

Note

(*Ensure that your ID number/student number/passport number is noted in the reference block on the deposit slip).
(**International Applicants outside South Africa may pay using a swift code ABSA ZAJJ at any bank within their home country)

These rules are ONLY applicable to first-time undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.

Please Ensure That A Copy Of Your Proof Of Payment Is Emailed To ujappdocs AT listsrv.uj.ac.za Or Else Your Application Will Not Be Processed! Your Student Number Must Be Clearly Indicated On Your Email Copy!!!

Additional Simplified Procedure

Here are the steps on how to apply for University of Johannesburg Residence online:
1. Go to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) website: https://www.uj.ac.za/
2. Click on the “Student Portal” tab.
3. Sign in to your student portal using your student number and password.
4. Click on the “Residence” tab.
5. Click on the “Apply for Residence” link.
6. Fill out the online application form.
7. Pay the application fee of R100.
8. Submit your application.

Here are the documents you need to submit with your application:
** A copy of your high school leaving certificate or equivalent.
** A copy of your passport.
** A copy of your proof of residence.
** A copy of your medical certificate.
** A copy of your financial statement.

You can also apply for residence in person at the UJ Residence Office. However, it is recommended that you apply online to avoid long wait times.

Here are some of the additional things to keep in mind when applying for residence at the University of Johannesburg:
** The application deadline is usually in March.
** You will be notified of the status of your application within 2 weeks.
** If your application is successful, you will be required to pay a deposit of R1,000.
** The residence fees are payable in installments.

  1. I applied at uj on 2015. I paid application fee and resident fee of Rs.1220 but I did not receive an acceptance letter. As a result I am studying in western college in Carletonville. Now I want my money back.

  2. I am currently a unisa student. I have applied at uj for 2017 admission. My student number is 5201501959. So I want to know what is required from me as now I have completed my first year at unisa. So I want to proceed with uj
