The search criteria are displayed at the top of the page and the search results are shown below them. The search criteria can be the Business ID, the trade name (company name) (Search key), or the LEI code. You can further specify your search by selecting a suitable company form.

Search Tips:
Search key:
Enter here the search criterion desired, which may be the business’s trade name, preceding trade name, parallel trade name, auxiliary trade name or the translation thereof, or a sequence of letters from the beginning of any of the words in the trade name. You can also use the name of a private entrepreneur as a search criterion.

Search by exact keyword:
Tick this box if you wish to make a search only by the word you have entered in the Search key field. The word must appear as such in the trade name.

For example, if you enter the word “rake” in the Search key field, the system returns all trade names where any of the words in the trade name begins with the sequence “rake”. The sequence “rake” appears for example in the word “rakennus”. In this particular case, the search must be refined because there are over 200 hits. After ticking the box “Word search”, only those trade names are returned where the word “rake” appears by itself. This is how the company Rake Oy is found.

Business ID:
Enter here the Business ID of the company if it is known.

Company form:
By making this selection you can call up on the screen only those company forms you wish, for instance only the limited companies meeting the search criteria.

Sort:
Here you can choose whether you want the businesses to be listed in alphabetical order or in the order of the Business IDs. If you choose the Sort by trade name option, the businesses will be listed in alphabetical order. If you choose the Sort by Business ID option, the businesses will be shown on the screen in ascending order, i.e. with the business with the smallest ID listed on top.

Filtering:
You can select which types of companies the search will include. The default is active businesses. By selecting “Find all” you can search among both active and terminated businesses.

Search:
By pressing this button you start a search according to the search criteria given. The search is conducted in the entire BIS database. However, the search result displayed only comprises the data contents of the BIS Information Service, which are more limited than those of the whole database.

The result of the search consists of the Business ID, the name and the company form of the businesses retrieved.

You can access additional data by clicking on the Business ID of each business.
