MCWD Water Safety Reminder

When in doubt, whether your water is safe or not especially during the rainy days, here are some helpful tips to observe:
** When water is smelly or murky, report immediately to MCWD Call Center ( MCC) at telephone no. 254-8434 press 0 or at the MCWD Laboratory at 346-9851 or fax nos. 412-2774 or 254-5391. For Smart cell subscribers, you can text MCWD_your concerns_NAME/ADDRESS/CONTACT NUMBER and send it to 700MCWD or 7006293; or you may text to 0917-3255970 or 0917-3219821. SMART will be charging P2.50 per text to 7006293 to its subscribers.

** Boil drinking water for at least 15 minutes.

** Be alert for any leaking pipes. If your service line has a leak after the water meter, call a private plumber immediately and have it repaired. This is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Leakage in the water pipe is one of the major concerns to be tackled by and among the water districts in the country everyday. It is important to give immediate attention to it no matter how small or how big the leak is because it’s not only a loss of revenue on the part of the water district but rather to ensure that the water that we are using is always safe and potable.

With the public’s cooperation, concessionaires are ensured of safe and potable drinking water. Be a self-leak detector now! For tomorrow might be too late!

MCWD Be a leak Detective

Do you know that every drop of water wasted from a leak consumes up to 67.5 liters a day? And every drop of water wasted is money lost?

A leak after the water meter is the concessionaire’s responsibility. Remember that one primary cause of abnormally high consumption is leakage after the meter. Hence, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District reminds its concessionaires to be aware of any leakage in their service connection after the water meter, to avoid high billing.

Here are some tips on how to check if there are leakages after your water meter:
** Check all your faucets and pipe joints. Remember a slow drip wastes 15 gallons of water per day.

** Learn to read your water meter everyday so that you can keep track of your daily water consumption and you can be sure none is wasted through leaks.
** Use your water meter to find leakages after your water meter.
** Your water meter usually located at the street near you can help detect a leak in your water system. Turn off all taps in and around the house and observe the water meter for about ( 5 ) minutes. If the water meter dial turns even if all your faucets are closed, you have a leakage in your service line. Since leakage is after the water meter, please engage the services of a private plumber to fix said leak.

** Incase of high billing because of the leak after the water meter, the water district does not make any adjustment on your water bill.
** However, one may file a complaint on high consumption at the MCWD Action Center ( MAC ). The consumer is advised to bring his/her water bill with a sketch of his/her address or location.

** A Job Order for trace up water services line will be made. However, if ever the complainant does not agree with the result of the trace up, he/she can go back to the MAC, for the second Job Order, which is for meter test.

** Check for leaks in the toilet bowl by tinting food coloring to the water tank.Check water in the bowl after 15 minutes. Colored water reaching the toilet bowl indicates the presence of a leak. Have this fixed immediately by a private plumber.

** By immediately repairing leaks in your line, you can save on your water bill.
** Report to MCWD Call Center at 254-8434 press 0 any busted underground main pipes and leakages on pipelines before the meter for immediate repair and disinfection.

** Report to MCWD Action Center ( MAC ) regarding main pipes submerged in canals, or wet ground, for checking of possible leaks. Provide and submit a sketch of the location of the leakage to the MAC.
** Your vigilance will ensure continued potability and adequacy of your drinking water supply today and at all times.

** Provide water supply to households, businesses, and industries in Metro Cebu.
** Collect water bills from customers.
** Maintain and repair water pipelines and other infrastructure.
** Conduct water quality testing.
** Educate the public about water conservation.
** Plan for future water supply needs.
** Work with other government agencies to improve water resources management.
** Respond to water emergencies.

    Our concern is we are not receiving the water bill for almost 2 months already (april and May), how to print the bill for the month of April so that we can process?

  8. I am worried because I can no longer view my bill online. Before I used to pay my account on due date because I can print out my bill online. I have tried many times downloading it for printing but it was a failure. The page on View Bill Online is no longer available. I don’t understand why.

    My other problem is that the Payment Center does not accept payment of water bill which was reflected on Cell Phone. They need the printed bill. So without a printed bill I cannot pay on time. I wish I will be allowed to pay my water bill based on the bill reflected on my Cell Phone.
