Register Your Baby’s Name Israel

Use this service to register your newborn’s name if it was not registered at the hospital. After registering your child’s name you will be sent their birth certificate and new ID appendices including their details. The service is free of charge.

About the Service

You can register your child’s name online if you’re their parent, and
** you’re an Israeli citizen or resident currently living in Israel
** your child was born at a hospital in Israel
** their name wasn’t registered at the hospital
** you’ve registered to GovID (mygov)

You’ll need :
** your ID number
** your GovID password
** the mobile phone or email you used to register to GovID

After registering your child’s name online:
** your child’s birth certificate will be issued within 5 working days
** you’ll be sent new ID slips (appendices) with your child’s details to your registered address

Who Can Register?

You’ll need to register your child’s name in person if
** the child wasn’t born in a hospital in Israel
** you are a single mother, or the father doesn’t recognize that they are the father

What You Need To Bring?

You’ll need:
1. your ID card – if you’re a married couple, bring both your IDs
2. and one of the following
** the delivering doctor’s report
** an affidavit from a certified midwife

** confirmation from a licensed doctor confirming that the mother had pregnancy check-ups from the 28th week of pregnancy and confirmation from a licensed doctor who has examined the baby within 48 hours of the birth
** a genetic test proving maternity, by family court order

How To Register?

To register your child’s name in person, apply at a Population and Immigration Authority office with
** your ID card – if both parent’s are applying, bring both IDs (not driving licenses)
** the required documents

Notes :
** Registration of a newborn’s name does not constitute recognition of paternity.
** If you don’t have the father’s details, you won’t be able to change or add them later to the newborn’s ID.

More Ways to Apply

You can also complete the newborn name registration form online, print it and submit it
** at a Population Authority self-service stand or general self-service stand located across the country

** by fax to 02-6469442
** by post to: The National Service Center , 42 Agripas Street, Jerusalem, Israel
** in person at a Population and Immigration Authority office – you can also place the application in a service box at the authority office

What you need :
Your:
** name
** ID number
** contact details

Your child’s:
** ID number
** Date of birth

What happens next :
** Your child’s birth certificate will be issued within 5 working days of receipt of the application
** You’ll be issued new ID slips with your child’s details
** They’ll be sent to your registered address by Israel Post
