BSP BRTA Driving License Issue & Renewal

** The prerequisite for a driving license is a learner’s or apprentice’s driving license.
** Minimum educational qualification of driving license applicant is 8th class pass.

Driving License Process

The customer must first apply online (bsp.brta.gov.bd) with the required documents for a learner or apprentice driving license. The online system will issue his learner or apprentice driving license and the customer will be able to print his apprentice driving license from the system immediately.

After 2/3 months of training, he has to take part in written, oral and field tests at the scheduled center on the scheduled date and time.

At this time the candidate has to bring the required proof, his learner or apprentice driving license (original copy) and pen to participate in the written test.

Documents Required

Documents required for a learner or apprentice driving license
1. Apply online in the prescribed form.
2. Applicant’s image [Image size 150 KB (300 x 300 pixels)]

3. Medical certificate from a registered doctor (maximum 600 KB). Click here for Medical Certificate Form]
4. Scanned copy of National Identity Card (Maximum 600 KB)

5. Scanned copy of utility bill (maximum 600 KB), [If applicant’s current address and National Identity Card address are different, utility bill of current address should be attached]

6. Scanned copy of existing driving license [Applicable for renewal of driving license / Class change / Class addition / Change of license type] (Maximum 600 KB)

7. Legal action will be taken against him for providing false information while submitting online application, including revocation of his learner’s driving license and smart card driving license.

8. Scheduled Fee, 1 Category-345 / – Taka and 2 Category-517 / – Taka paid online.

After passing the written, oral and field test, one has to re-apply for the smart card driving license by submitting the required documents and fees in a prescribed form to the concerned circle office.

The smart card is issued by accepting the customer’s biometrics (digital photo, digital signature and fingerprint). When the printing of smart card driving license is completed, the customer is informed about the receipt through SMS.

Documents required for a smartcard driving license :
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate from a registered doctor.
3. Attested photocopy of National ID Card.

4. Receipt for deposit of prescribed fee (Professional – Rs. 179 / – and Amateur – Rs. 2542 / -) in the prescribed bank of BRTA.
5. Police investigation report for professional driving license.
6. Newly taken 1 copy passport size photo.

Nature of Professional Driving License

(1) Candidate must be at least 20 years of age for professional light (motor vehicle weight below 2500 kg) driving license,

(2) Candidate must be at least 23 years of age for professional medium (motor vehicle weight 2500 to 7500 kg) and professional light Use of driving license must be at least 03 years.

(3) For professional heavy (motor vehicle weight more than 6500 kg) driving license, the age of the candidate should be at least 28 years and the use of professional medium driving license should be at least 03 years.

[Note : In order to obtain a professional heavy driving license, the candidate must first obtain a light driving license. After a minimum of three years, he can apply for a professional medium driving license and at least 03 (three) years after obtaining a medium driving license. You can apply for it. ]

Driving License Renewal Process

(A) Amateur :
The customer has to first apply to the specified circle office of BRTA by depositing the prescribed fee (Rs. 2426 / – if within 15 days of expiration and Rs. 230 / – per annum after 15 days of expiration) along with required documents.

If the application form and attached documents are found to be correct, the biometrics (digital photograph, digital signature and fingerprint) of the customer are taken on the same day.

When the printing of smart card w is completed, the customer is informed through SMS.

(B) Professional :
Professional driving license holders will have to re-participate in a practical test.

After passing the examination, the prescribed fee (Rs. 1585 / – if within 15 days of expiration and Rs. 230 / – per annum after 15 days of expiry) along with the required documents has to be submitted to the specified circle office of BRTA.

The customer has to be present at the specified circle office to take the biometrics (digital photo, digital signature and fingerprint) of the customer. When all the process of printing smart card w is completed, the customer is informed via SMS.

Documents required :
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate from a registered doctor.
3. Attested photocopy of National ID Card.
4. Certificate of Educational Qualification;
5. Receipt for payment of prescribed fee.
6. Police investigation report for professional driving license.
