Mobility Allowance :

Beneficiaries :
** Persons whose visual acuity is equal or less than 6/36 in each eyes.
** Persons with severe mobility problems in the lower limbs.

Allowance/Provision:
** €51 per month to persons with severe mobility problems in the lower limbs, who are working or studying.
** €102 per month to blind persons who are working or studying.
** €102 per month to persons with quadriplegia (regardless if they are working or studying).

Certificates / Documents:
The application must be accompanied by the following certificates / documents:
1. A copy of the applicants Identity Card or a copy of his Residence Permit from the Civil Registry and Migration Department, if the applicant is a citizen of another European Union country.
2. A Medical Certificate about the nature of the disability (A medical certificate is not necessary if the applicant is already a recipient of the Special Allowance for Blind Persons, the Care Allowance for Quadriplegic Persons Despite of Income, the Care Allowance for Paraplegic Persons Despite of Income and Age and the Severe Motor Disability Allowance provided by the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
3. A work certificate by the employer (a specific form is attached) or in the case of self-employment provide the most recent copy of the pay slip to the Social Security Fund or a certificate from your educational institution.
4. A Certificate of your bank / cooperative credit institution or a copy of the account statement which will show the beneficiary and the account number (IBAN).
5. The Department for Social Inclusion for Persons with Disabilities may require for more documents whenever it is necessary.

General Information:
1. The Mobility Allowance is administered according to the provisions of the Provision of Mobility Allowance to Persons with Disabilities Law of 1980 – 2011.
2. Beneficiary is considered the person with disability that works or studies in Cyprus and according to the report of the Multidisciplinary Committee the person is considered to be permanently disabled and his disability might be:
** Paraplegia, quadriplegia, amputation or deformation or weakness of the lower limps in a degree higher of thirty nine percent (39%)
** reduction in visual acuity of both eyes, which does not exceed in the most functional eye, even with corrective lenses, the degree of 6/36.

It is noted that a report from the Multidisciplinary Committee is not required in the case that the applicant is already a recipient of the Special Allowance for Blind Persons, the Care Allowance for Quadriplegic Persons Despite Income, the Care Allowance for Paraplegic Persons Despite Age and Income and the Severe Motor Disability Allowance from the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

It is also noted that the criterion of work/study is not required when the applicant is a person with quadriplegia.

3. The Mobility Allowance is not provided to persons that already receive retirement pension according to the Social Securities Law or to pupils of primary or secondary education.

(a) The completed applications could be delivered to the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (67 Archbishop Makarios III street, Latsia)
