Diya is working towards employable education :
** Merit scholarships for talented, financially deserving students across Pakistan, with a mission to enable them to pursue their academic objectives, and hence defeat poverty. By 2017, the target is to reach out to 27,000 students annually.

** Vocational training stipends for qualifying students, focusing on high impact and employable and vocations. By 2017, the target is to reach out to 8,000 beneficiaries annually.

** Future Leaders program (Rahnuma) to assist 1,000 exceptional students to achieve their aspirations – facilitated through coaching, educational scholarship and career advisory services.

Key Features of Diya’s Education Program

** 280,000+ scholarships awarded to financially distressed students across Pakistan
** Rs 570 million+ in merit scholarships

** 700 network of schools and colleges across rural and urban Pakistan.
** Priority given to students belonging to violence affected areas and victims of flood and earthquake disasters

** Rahnuma is a unique program which incentivizes high performing students by offering continuous scholarships throughout their academic career. The program was initiated in 2010 and awards exceptional students who maintain strong academic performance.

The five year strategic plan (2013-2017) identifies three key initiatives to help promote employable education, alleviate poverty, and develop high potential future leaders.

Education Scholarships :
35,000 annual scholarships for talented, financially distressed students by 2017. The screening program has been further enhanced to focus on high impact and employable field of studies.

Vocational Training Stipends :
8,000 beneficiaries annually

Scholarships are awarded directly to most deserving students as well as through approved schools, colleges and institutions that are on the panel of Diya. A rigorous screening and evaluation process of all applications ensures that the funds are being used for the right purpose and in an effective manner.

Applicants are required to provide comprehensive details on the financial profile, family background and their academic record. The information provided are attested by relevant authorities (for example, School Principal or District Counselor).

Further verifications are obtained in the form of phone interviews, reference, or a site visit by Diya staff. Full record of all applications and correspondence is maintained.
