How do I apply for a birth certificate?:
Applications for birth certificates are made at the Registration Department, New Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Road, St. Michael.

Applications are processed for a fee of BDS$1.00 for persons 60 years and over and a fee of BDS$5.00 for all others. Applications done in person before 11:30am are processed by 3pm on the day of application.

Completed application forms may also be mailed to the Registration Department and should be accompanied by a Money Order for the relevant processing fee.

Money Orders should be made out to the Registrar of the Supreme Court. Persons opting for this method of application should also enclose a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.

How do I apply for a marriage certificate? :
Applications for marriage certificates are made at the Registration Department, New Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Road,St. Michael.

Applications are processed for a fee of BDS$10.00 for nationals and BDS$20.00 for non-nationals. In cases where the relevant authorities of a foreign government require an apostil to be affixed to the certificate as proof of authenticity, you will be charged an additional fee of BDS$50.00.

Completed application forms may also be mailed to the Registration Department and should be accompanied by a Money Order for the relevant processing fee. Money Orders should be made out to the Registrar of the Supreme Court. Persons opting for this method of application should also enclose a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.

How do I apply for a death certificate?:
Applications for death certificates are made at the Registration Department, New Supreme Court Complex Whitepark Road, St. Michael.

Applications are processed for a fee of BDS$5.00. Completed application forms may also be mailed to the Registration Department and should be accompanied by a Money Order in the amount of BDS$5.00 and should be made out to the Registrar of the Supreme Court. Persons opting for this method of application should also enclose a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.

How do I apply for a Police Certificate of Character?:
Applications for a Police Certificate of Character can be made at the Certificate of Character Office at the Bridgetown Division of the Royal Police Force, located at the corner of Roebuck Street, St. Michael.

The cost for each certificate issued is BDS$10.00 and persons are required to present a valid form of identification (Barbados Identification Card or a passport). Completed application forms may also be submitted by mail and should be accompanied by a Money Order, Cheque, or Postal Money Order in the amount of BDS$10.00 and made out to the Commissioner of Police. Persons opting for this method of application should also enclose a self-addressed envelope with sufficient return postage.

Applications can also be made in the form of a letter, including the following information:
Full name of applicant (Females must include all names: maiden names, surnames carried in previous marriages etc.)
Date of Birth
Address while in Barbados
Dates of arrival to/departure from Barbados (non-nationals)
Period of time spent outside of Barbados, if the period is six (6) months or longer (nationals)
A set of original fingerprints taken by competent authorities (Police Department) with an official stamp or seal attached*

* For persons living in the United Kingdom, requests for fingerprinting should be made to the Scotland Yard.
