In exchange for Government subsidy received under the TGS, all non-Singaporean students (including Singapore Permanent Residents), are required to sign a TG agreement in which they will be contractually obliged to work in Singapore-based company for a minimum period of 3 years upon graduation.

The Tuition Grant Scheme was introduced by the Government in 1980 to subsidise the cost of tertiary education in Singapore.

In return for the Government subsidy received under the Scheme, non-Singaporean students, including Singapore Permanent Residents, are required to sign a Tuition Grant agreement. These students will be contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation.

Note:
* For undergraduate degree programmes offered at these institutions, the Tuition Grant Scheme is extended to eligible Singapore Citizen students and Singapore Permanent Resident students studying the approved MOE-subsidised undergraduate programmes only.

Who Can Apply For Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS)?

You will be eligible for Tuition Grant for your new course at the approved Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) if you have not already attained a diploma or degree or higher qualifications than the course you are pursuing through MOE subsidies or sponsorship by the Singapore Government.

However, meeting the eligibility does not indicate automatic approval for placement under the Scheme. Application for the Tuition Grant Scheme by Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) and international students is subject to MOE’s approval.
