Irish Water Customer Registration

How to register with Irish Water:
Domestic water charges apply from 1 January 2015 for both metered and unmetered homes with billing starting from April 2015.

A household with 1 adult will be charged no more than €160 per year while a household with 2 or more adults will now be charged no more than €260 per year. Water services for children are still free and every household registered with Irish Water will qualify to apply for a water conservation grant of €100 per year. The grant will be administered by the Department of Social Protection and further details on when applications can be made to them will be announced later in the year. Ways to register:
You can register online, by telephone or by post.

To register online you will need your Application Number and PIN that was previously sent to you in the post. These details are printed in the box on the top right corner of the original application form posted to you..

If you do not have an Application Number and PIN or if you have misplaced or lost these details, you can also register by post or telephone. You can download an application form here or pick up an application form in your local post office.

Liability for water services commence – 1 January 2015
First Irish Water bills issued – From April 2015

Who needs to register?:
You should register with Irish Water if:
** you are a property owner and live in the property; or
** you are an occupier and live in the property; or
** you are the owner of a property and there is no occupier in the property (for example a holiday home); or
** you do not have public water services connected to your property (you need to tell us that you are not a customer using this application).

What if I have already registered?:
If you have already registered with Irish Water and there have been no changes in the number of people living in your household, then you do not need to do anything further at this time and we thank you for completing your registration. If there has been a change, please call us on 1890 448 448 to update your details.

What will Irish Water do with the PPS Numbers it has obtained to date?
PPS Numbers are no longer required to register with Irish Water. Irish Water has developed a protocol in consultation with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner whereby PPS data collected to date will be securely deleted.

The implementation of this protocol will be subject to independent verification, in accordance with parameters to be established with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. For more information, please view our Data Protection Notice.
