Marriage Registration :

Marriage is the voluntary union of a woman and a man for the purpose of creating a family. Only the registered marriage raises legal consequences, rights and obligations between spouses.

Days of service are Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and weekends.

What are requirements for marriage registration?:
Marriage registration occurs on the date and place identified by people, who are planning to get married.

Upon the request of people, planning to get married, marriage registration may be held in a festive atmosphere.

Special festive ritual services are offered at Wedding Houses in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Sighnaghi.

Upon citizens’ request marriage registration may occur outside of the Public Service Hall, at any time and place.

Which documents are required for marriage registration?:
** Joint written statement of the persons, planning to get married;
** Identity documents of the persons, planning to get married (identification card or passport);
** In case of solemn ritual of marriage or outside marriage registration – the receipt of a service the state duty;
** An identity documents of witnesses (ID cards or passports).

Also, for persons, who previously where married:
** Divorce certificate.

The state duty:
Marriage registration outside the Public Service Hall 170 GEL
Solemn ritual of marriage at the Wedding House (weekends) 150 GEL
Solemn ritual of marriage at the Wedding House (business days) 90 GEL
Solemn ritual of marriage at the Public Service Hall (weekends) 50 GEL

Solemn ritual of marriage:
The services of marriage registration in solemn rituals are offered at Wedding Houses in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Sighnaghi.

Days off: Mondays and Tuesdays

Sighnaghi Wedding House offers 24 hour service, whereas Batumi Wedding House only offers 24 hour service during summer.

FAQ :
What types of a state document certifying general education might be issued?
State documents certifying general education are the following :
** A document certifying full general education – Certificate of Full General Education;
** A document certifying base general education – Certificate of Base General Education
** A certificate of secondary stage of general education.

** A person who has overcome the level envisaged under the national curriculum in accordance with the rule prescribed by law and successfully passed the final exams of a school is entitled to be awarded a state document certifying full general education.

** A person who has overcome the level envisaged under the national curriculum in accordance with the rule prescribed by law, is entitled to be awarded a state document certifying base general education

** A person who has overcome the level envisaged under the national curriculum in accordance with the rule prescribed by law but failed to pass school final exams or was absent the school final exams is entitled to be awarded a certificate of secondary stage of general education.
