Scheme For Persons With Disability :

Aim:
To provide financial aid and technical advice to persons with disability to carry out adaptation works related to their disability in their residence.

Criteria:
1.A maximum grant of €18,500 is given to persons with a disability that limits their physical or intellectual ability, affecting in a substantial way one or more of the major vital activities.

2.The applicant has to be the legal representative, parent, children or brothers/sisters of the person with a disability or he is himself suffering from a disability indicated in this scheme.

3.In cases of owners, the value of their residence should not exceed €250,000.

4.Grant is given in line with a technical advice on the works required according to the needs of the person with the disability/mobility problems on:
a.Adaptation works, up to €3,500;
b.Stair-lifts, up to €5,000;
c.Lifts in private blocks of apartments where assistance is based on the share of the applicant, up to a maximum of €5,000.
d.Lifts in private houses, up to a maximum of €15,000.

5.Assets of applicants during the year preceding the date of application should not exceed €30,000 and income for 2013 should be below €35,393.65.

6.The grant is based on applicants’ aggregate income for the year prior to date of application.

7.The Housing Authority issues payments upon presentation of fiscal receipts by applicants for the works carried out, and after the Authority ascertains that works have been carried out in full and as approved and that all conditions have been observed.

8. No means testing is to be carried out on applicants in receipt of the following Non Contributory Benefits:-
SA – Social Assistance
SUP – Social Assistance Single Parents
UA – Unemployment Assistance
AP – Age Pension
NMIP – National Minimum Invalidity Pension

Property Exchange :

** The Housing Authority compiled a list of tenants who require different properties. This was done in an effort to introduce property exchange amongst tenants.

Subsidy on Adaptation Works in Residences occupied by Owners or Tenants :
Aim :
** To provide subsidy for adaptation works in owner occupied, privately rented or government rented residences. Landlords of private dwellings rented to tenants can apply for assistance to eliminate dangerous structure only and on just one property. This aid helps to render premises in a habitable and acceptable standard.

Criteria :
1.The maximum amount of assistance under this scheme is €11,000 for owner occupied premises, €7,000 for tenants and €3,000 for landlords of rented properties.

2.Owner occupiers can benefit from assistance for repairs related to structure and adaptations in their residence, whilst tenants can benefit for assistance related to adaptations.

3.Assistance is given in the case of works to be carried out on properties which have been built over 15 years ago.

4.Assets of applicants in the year preceding the date of application should not exceed €30,000 and income for 2015 should be below €20,514.81.

5.The grant is based on applicant’s income and family members.

6.The Housing Authority issues payments upon presentation of fiscal receipts by applicants for the works carried out, and after the Authority ascertains that works have been carried out in full and as approved and all conditions have been observed.

7.Beneficiaries under this scheme may benefit for additional improvements after five years, provided that the total sum does not exceed the maximum amount.
