UTA offers first cycle (Bachelor), second cycle (Master) and third cycle (Doctoral) degrees. Of these, we offer both Master and Doctoral programmes in English. For information regarding admissions to degree programmes conducted in Finnish language, please see Opiskelijaksi.

Finland is a safe country to live in, and the City of Tampere, situated in the southern part of the country, has much to offer for those looking to combine quality education, culture, city-life and beautiful natural surroundings.

Applying for a Master’s Degree Programme:
For the Master’s Degree programmes offered by the University of Tampere, only applications submitted to University Admissions Finland (UAF) through the FuniMa application system and sent by post to UAF are accepted. UAF pre-processes all applications before sending them to the University of Tampere for the selection of students. The pre-processing includes the evaluation of applicants’ eligibility, of the authenticity of educational certificates, and the verification of the language test scores.

Doctoral Studies:
The University of Tampere (UTA) is a multidisciplinary university with a special commitment to the critical scrutiny of social phenomena and on the formation of civic society. Research interests include society, economy, administration and culture as well as public health, wellbeing and education.

Doctoral studies require independent research and an extensive Doctoral dissertation, which is defended in public. Doctoral degrees also include other studies, some general and some more specialised. UTA offers a supply of joint doctoral courses, which are designed to take into account the different backgrounds and various needs of PhD students, and aims especially at improving research skills and skills students need in working life.

The Doctoral degree takes a minimum of 4 years and is worth 240 ECTS credits.

How to Apply?:
Applying for a doctoral programme in Tampere takes place twice a year (in April and October), with some exceptions. Information for applicants is available on the website of University of Tampere Doctoral School.
