What do you get?:
Since April 2008 everyone who is resident in England and who is:
1. Eligible based on their age or
2.Eligible Disabled

has been entitled to a free bus pass giving free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England.

‘Off-peak’ is between 9.30am and 11pm Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on public holidays. Local authorities may offer further benefits to their residents, such as free travel outside off-peak times or reduced tram or rail travel. However, these will apply only for travel in the local area, not elsewhere in England.

If you are eligible by Age and your Local Authority subscribes to this e-registration service, you can register for a free bus pass directly from this site. Just click on the “Apply Online” tab.

Am I Eligible?:
Everyone who is eligible according to the guidelines set by the Department for Transport and Department for Work and Pensions is entitled to free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England using a National Bus Pass.

Eligibility is no longer based on reaching the age of 60 years. The concession is now awarded in line with the pensionable age of woman, whether you are male or female.

Payment methods:
You can make payments using Visa®, MasterCard®, JCB®, Maestro® and Diner’s® credit and debit cards. There are no surcharges for payment with credit cards. All transactions will be in Pound Sterling.

Unicard Ltd provides the online registration portal to Local Authorities in England but does not provide assistance to the general public with respect to the actual application or the assessment process relating to your pass. Please contact your Local Authority who will assist in the first instance and refer to Unicard should the matter not be resolved immediately.

Refund and return policy:
The transaction fee will only be debited from your account if the application passes our validation checks. In case of rejection, you will not see any debit or credit activity on your bank statement because no funds would have been transferred.
** If your application is approved and your payment is processed but you wish to request a refund for any reason, please contact your Local Authority Bus Pass Contact Centre directly.
** If your application is rejected and you wish to apply again, please refer to your Local Authority Bus Pass Contact Centre for alternative off-line arrangements.
** You will receive regular emails as the application moves through the different order processing stages.
