Application:
As a rule, temporary work visas are requested in Brazil at the Ministry of Labour and Employment by the Brazilian sponsoring institution or company (more information here). Only after approval by the Ministry of Labour in Brazil will the Ministry of External Relations authorize processing the visa at the Embassy. At this stage, the following documents must be submitted to the Embassy:

Visa application form, completely filled out online, dated and duly signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians (print only the receipt page with the barcode: sign it and glue the picture) Parents must sign for minors under 18 years of age.

Valid passport (minimum 6 months) with at least one blank visa page available. In the case of volunteer or social workers a copy will be taken for legalization.

Copy of residence permit for foreign residents and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to another country.

One recent passport-size photo, front view, white background (snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted).

Criminal record issued in the last 90 days, by the authorities of the country of residence, attesting the absence of criminal activity (need not be legalized).

Other documents may be requested at the discretion of the Embassy.

Work visas for stays up to 90 days :
The application for a work visa can be submitted directly to the Embassy IF the traveler meets all of the following conditions:
The traveler does not have an employment contract with a Brazilian company.

The purpose of the trip is the transfer of technology or the provision of technical assistance, due to a contract or cooperation agreement signed between a foreign legal person and a Brazilian legal person.

The traveler’s stay in Brazil will not exceed 90 days.

In such case, the same documents listed in 1 above must be submitted to the Embassy, together with:
Invitation letter from the Brazilian company confirming that the traveler is being called to provide the specified service in Brazil.

Proof of tax ID registration (CNPJ) of the Brazilian company with the Federal Revenue Service in Brazil.

Other documents may be requested at the discretion of the Embassy.

Please note that a Temporary Visa V issued under these last conditions cannot be extended in Brazil, and cannot be granted to the same traveler more than once every 180 days.
