Apply For New Smart Identity Card

Smart card identity section is responsibles in issuing identity card to the eligible Brunei Darussalam’s citizen, permanent resident of Brunei Darussalam and foreigners.

Types of Smart Identity Card

1. Smart Identity Card (Yellow) – Citizens of Brunei Darussalam
2. Smart Identity Card (Purple) – Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam
3. Smart Identity Card (Green) – Foreigners staying in the country for a period of more than 3 months.

Yellow

Prerequisite Requirement:
Only the citizens of Brunei Darussalam are eligible to apply
Applicant at the age of 12

How do I apply this card ?:
To apply for it, he/she is required to lodge personally directly to the national registration section of the department.

What do I have to provide to get the card?:
Original and a copy of Birth Certificate
Original and a copy of Nationality Certificate (if applicable)
Original and a copy of Father’s Identity Card (if applicant’s father is a military or police personnel)

Validity:
5 years (after the validity period the applicant should renew the card)

Processing:7 working days

Fees of the card:
BND$15.00
($10.00 for the Card & $5.00 for Digital Photo)

Purple

Prerequisite Requirement:
Only ‘Residence Permit’ or ‘Entry Permit’ and ‘stateless’ holders are eligible to apply for it
Applicant at the age of 12

How do I apply this card ?:
To apply for it, he/she is required to lodge personally directly to the national registration section of the department.

What do I have to provide to get the card?:
Original and a copy of Birth Certificate
Original and a copy of Entry Permit/ Residence Permit
Original and a copy of Passport (if applicable)

Validity:
5 years (after the validity period the applicant should renew the card)

Processing:
7 working days

Fees of the card:
BND$20.00
($15.00 for the Card & $5.00 for Digital Photo)

Green

Prerequisite Requirement:
Any foreigner staying in the country for more than 3 months

How do I apply this card ?:
To apply for it, he/she is required to lodge personally directly to the national registration section of the department.

What do I have to provide the card?:
Original and a copy of passport

Validity:
According to period issued stated in the passport

Processing:
21 working days

Fees of the card:
BND$20.00
($15.00 for the Card & $5.00 for Digital Photo)

Lost or Stolen Smart Identity Card (KPP)

Application for replacement of lost / theft KPP should be enclosed as follows;
** Documents specified in diagram (a) above;
** If the KPP is missing / overseas theft letter Foreign and Domestic Police Reports are required, (Original and Copy);
** Police report issued in Brunei Darussalam (Origin and Copy);
** Payment for lost / theft KPP is as below;

Fees :
** First Replacement Bnd – $ 20.00
** Registration Fee Pay Charge Bnd – $ 5.00
** Second Timeline Bnd – $ 50.00 Registration Fee
** Pay Charge Bnd – $ 5.00
** Third And Subsequentary Substances Registration Fee Bnd – $ 100.00
** Pay Charge Bnd – $ 5.00

** KPP application for Members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force which ceases service

** Members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force who have completed the service shall apply for the KPP by including;
** Documents specified in diagram (a) above;
** Letter of completion (Original and Copy);
** Certificate of Service / Red Book (Origin and Copy);
** The payment is as in fig. (A) above.

Additional Simplified Procedure

To apply for a new Smart Identity Card (IC) in Brunei, you will need to:
1. Download the QueUP application from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
2. Book an appointment at the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD).

3. Bring the following documents to your appointment:
** Your old IC, if you have one.
** A recent passport-sized photograph.
** A copy of your birth certificate.
** A copy of your marriage certificate, if you are married.
** A copy of your divorce certificate, if you are divorced.
** A copy of your death certificate, if your spouse or child has died.

The INPRD will take your fingerprints and photograph, and issue you with a new IC. The processing time for a new IC is typically 1-2 weeks.

Here are the fees for applying for a new Smart IC in Brunei:
** Bruneian citizen: BND20
** Permanent resident: BND30
** Foreigner: BND50

If you are applying for a new IC because your old IC has been lost or damaged, you will need to pay an additional fee of BND10. You can also apply for a new IC at the INRD’s headquarters or any of its branch offices. However, it is recommended that you book an appointment in advance to avoid long wait times.

  2. I need to know is there any penalty charges if green identity card expired for 5 months.
