New Requests For Naming A New Road

New Requests for naming a New Road shall be submitted using our online Street Name Request Form below and shall include the following:
** The proposed name
** Development name, block/parcel.
** Reason(s) for proposal.

Requests For Renaming A Road

Requests for renaming a road should be submitted on the Street Name Change Form below and shall include the following:

** The present name.
** The proposed name.
** Signatures and address’ of 100% of the affected, resident, Registered Proprietors, including strata owners.
** Reason(s) for proposal.

Completed requests should be returned to the Department or emailed to streetaddressing@gov.ky for the Minister of Lands to review.

Who Can Apply to Name A Street?
Anyone may apply for a street to be named or re-named, but must do so in writing and addressed to the Director, Lands & Survey Department, Box 120, Government Admin Building, 133 Elgin Avenue, Georgetown, Grand Cayman KY1- 9000. All additional information must be provided as may be requested

Right to appeal against a refused street name application?
Whilst the Act is silent as to the process for appeal, a person may appeal to the Grand Court only on a point of Law in the event of refusal of an application to name a street, however, if it is believed that the prescribed ‘street naming’ process has not been applied correctly, an aggrieved party may appeal to the Ombudsman

Street Name Change Confirmation?
Within 3 days of confirming the name change order, a notice will be delivered to every property accessible from that street, and a notice will be published in the Gazette

Proposed Street Name Changes / Substitutions?
Before making an order to change a street name, notices shall be:
a) Delivered to every property on the street
b) Posted in a conspicuous position at each end of the street; and
c) Advertised in a local newspaper

Each notice will specify how and when objections must be made to the Minister for Lands, with a deadline for making objections being no less than 1 calendar month from the date of posting the advert(s). The Minister will consider every objection before making the proposed ‘street naming’ order and, having regard to those objections, may amend the proposed street name
