How To Apply For Establishment of Private Theatres in Croatia?
A private theatre may be established as an institution, an arts organization or a company. Private theatres may be established as institutions, arts organizations and companies by domestic and foreign legal and natural persons.

Requirements For Establishment
According to the Theatres Act, the requirements for establishment require the theatre to possess the following:
** theatre facilities functionally suitable and equipped for performing stage and musical theatre works
** the necessary professional arts personnel
** the necessary organizational and technical employees.
The existence of the requirements for establishment is determined by the City Office for Culture and the Civil Society. Theatres and theatre companies established as institutions and companies are registered in the court register, and those established as arts organizations are registered in the Registry of Arts Organizations.
Registration in the Theatre Registry
Once established, theatres, theatre companies and theatre establishments are registered in the Theatre Registry at the Ministry of Culture and Media on the basis of the application for registration. The application form, as well as instructions for the e-procedure of applying for registration in the Theatre Registry, can be downloaded from the Ministry’s website.
The application for registration is submitted by the Intendant, Theatre Director or Acting Director, or the temporary Intendant or Theatre Director, to the County Office of the Ministry of Culture and Media with jurisdiction for cultural affairs in the area of the theatre’s registered office, or to the Office of the City of Zagreb competent for cultural affairs.
Theatre Registry:
The theater’s register contains basic information on all public and private theaters, theatre groups and theater companies in the Republic of Croatia, whether they perform theatrical activity as an independent legal entity or as a special organizational unit within another legal entity.
The application for registration in the Register shall be submitted within eight days of the finality of the decision on the entry of the theater, theatrical company or theatrical house in the court or other register or special organisational units within the court or other register. For the theater and theatrical house, a decision on the fulfillment of the conditions for the establishment of a theater or a theater company in accordance with the Law on Theatre is also submitted.
Registration for registration in the Register is completed electronically, on a special Form available on the Ministry’s website. The completed form is sent electronically to the registry of the Ministry of Culture and Media pisarnica@min-kulture.hr. . Incomplete and inaccurate applications are returned to the applicant for correction and amendment.
