Who Can Apply For Croatian Passport?

Croatian citizens residing abroad can apply at the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Croatia with jurisdiction over the location in which they are residing.

Documents Required For Getting Croatian Passport

An application for a passport is submitted in person, along with the following:
** current passport
** identity card or another valid identity document if the current passport is inaccessible
** certificate of citizenship and birth certificate in case of a first-time passport application
** 3.5 x 4.5 cm-sized biometric photograph printed on smooth paper – to be developped in advance and brought along
** proof of current address in the country of residence
** a consular fee is charged in accordance with the Administrative Fees Act – payment in cash is not accepted

Additionally required for minors:
** birth certificate
** children over 12 years of age must be present when submitting the application
** the application is submitted by a parent/legal representative

In specific cases, the consular officer may also request other required documents.

Report of Theft/Loss/Missing Passport and Identity Card

** Stolen identity cards or passports should be immediately reported to the competent foreign authority (e.g. the police).
** Also, missing passports or identity cards should be reported in person to the Croatian embassy or consulate as soon as possible.
** The client is required to provide a written statement, in person, of all the circumstances surrounding the loss or theft of their identity card or passport (note: giving false statements is considered a criminal offence).
** Preferably, the person should submit the relevant certificate issued by the local police, showing that the document was reported to the competent local authorities as missing.
** In case the passport and/or identity card that was previously declared invalid, is found, it may in no way be used, but rather taken to the embassy or consulate to be physically cancelled.
** If the missing document was the only valid document, in addition to an appointment to report the lost/stolen document, it is necessary to make an appointment to issue a new passport, i.e. a laissez-passer.
** If you wish to report a missing document, you can do so at the competent embassy or consulate of the Republic of Croatia in your country.
