How To Import & Export of Human Corpse in Cambodia?
It is noticed so far that there are requests to export or import human corpse by those whose family member or relative passing away in a foreign country for a funeral following the tradition, custom, and culture in their home country. In this regard, to facilitate the process, the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia creates this webpage to provide information regarding customs procedure for the export or import of human corpse.

Exporting Human Corpse of a Foreigner From Cambodia
A person who wishes to export the remain of his/her foreign family member or friend, deceased in Cambodia because of disease or other accidents, shall:
1. Request permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
2. Fill in the Summary Declaration in e-Customs system with the following necessary attached document៖
** Permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Sample Document)
** Death Certification issued by the police
** Death Certification issued by hospital (Sample Document)
** Quarantine permit for exportation of corpse (Sample Document)
** Transportation document (Sample Document)
3. Invite customs officers for on-site inspection in order to make inspection note before placing the corpse into the casket for export.
Importing a Cambodian Human Remain From Abroad
A person who wishes to import the remain of his/her Cambodian family member or friend, deceased abroad, back to Cambodia for a traditional funeral shall:
** fill in the Summary Declaration in e-Customs system at the entrance checkpoint and attach the following necessary document៖
** Letter of the Embassy of Kingdom of Cambodia based in that country (Sample Document)
** Death Certification issued by authority of the export country
** Death Certification issued by hospital (Sample Document)
** Transportation document (Sample Document)
Exporting and Importing Casket
The export or import of casket(s) containing human corpse(s) is not subject to customs duty and tax. However, an empty casket (without human corpse) is considered as a goods and is obliged to pay customs duty according to current Customs Tariff of Cambodia.
