Online National Police Certificate :

A National Police Certificate, (NPC) lists an individual’s criminal and WA traffic court outcomes and pending charges that are deemed disclosable at the time of application. Application forms are available at participating Australia Post outlets or online. Once complete, present the form along with the application fee and 100 points of identification to any participating Australia Post outlet.

An application for a NPC can take up to 15 working days to process. Once complete, your NPC will be posted to the address nominated on the application form.

When do I need a National Police Certificate?:
National Police Certificates are commonly used for employment or licensing purposes. You should check with your employer or licensing body to confirm that a National Police Certificate is appropriate as some employers and licensing bodies use alternative screening processes.

How much does a National Police Certificate cost?:
National Police Certificates costs $62.75. There are no discounts or concessions available.

How long will it take to process my National Police Certificate application?:
You should receive your National Police Certificate within 5-10 working days depending on postage times. If an application requires further investigation, such as: confirmation of identity, (eg a common surname, licenses or permits and other information from contact with police) it may take up to 15 working days to resolve.

How can I check the progress of my National Police Certificate?:
You should allow for 15 working days before contacting us about the progress of your application. After this period you may contact WA Police by email.

WA Police aim to provide a response within a single working day period. Depending on the details of your enquiry, WA Police may need more time to conduct a proper investigation however you will be contacted and informed if this is the case.

The timeframe for a National Police Certificate is rarely more than the 15 working day period; if you have not received your National Police Certificate as at 15 working days, you can email us.

How long is a National Police Certificate valid?:
A National Police Certificate is current as of the date of issue therefore WA Police imposes no period of validity; it is up to employers and organisations to determine the currency of a National Police Certificate that they will accept.

Who can apply for a WA Police National Police Certificate?:
Any individual living or working in Western Australia can apply for a National Police Certificate. There are no specific restrictions except the ability to meet the application criteria. Applicants less than 15 years of age will need to have a parent/guardian sign their consent at the time of application.

To apply for a National Police Certificate in Western Australia, an individual must attend a participating Australia Post outlet in person and present sufficient proof of identity, a completed application form and pay the application fee.
