Immigration Kenya Student Pass Application

This document issued to person(s) seeking to enter and remain in the country for the purpose of receiving education or training at an educational or training establishment within the country by which he/she has been accepted as a student/pupil.

Student Passes Requirements:
1.Application form(form 8) dully filled signed and stamped
2.Cover/forwarding letter from school stating the course and course duration
3.Copy of the passport ** biodata pages ** visa page
4.Two passport size photos
5.Commitment letter from parent/legal guardian/sponsor
6.6. The institution applying must be registered as an educational establishment. If the institution is relatively new a copy of registration must be submitted together with the application .

Fee For Student Passes:
Ksh.5,000/= per year or part thereof.

Notes:
1. This certificate must be signed by the Principal in person
2. Research and intern applicants must attach approval and /or permission from relevant Kenyan authority

It is an offence:
(a) To receive education or training at any educational or training establishment within Kenya without a Pupil’s Pass
(b) While in possession of a Pupil’s Pass, to engage in any form of employment either for gain or not

Dependant Passes

Dependant Pass Requirements:
** The applicant must be Kenyan Holder of valid entry permit Exempted person under Immunities Act (Cap. 179) and who are covered under section 4(3) (a) to (g) .
** Application form dully filled and signed
** Copy of the national passport of the dependant .
** Two passport size photos of the dependant.
** Copy of birth certificate or marriage certificate for immediate family members If the institution is relatively new a copy of registration must be submitted together with the application .

Fee For Dependant Passes:
Ksh.5,000/=

Special Pass:
This is a document issued to person(s) given specific employment by specific employer for a short duration not exceeding three (3) monthsose of receiving education or training at an educational or training establishment within the country by which he/she has been accepted as a student/pupil.

Special Pass Requirements :
** Application form dully filled and signed
** Copy of the national passport
** Two passport size photos
** Forwarding letter from institution/applicant
** Clearance from regulatory bodies (medical and dentist board, pharmacy and poisons board, engineering board, NGO council, Ministry of Information. ion is relatively new a copy of registration must be submitted together with the application .

Fee For Special Pass:
Ksh.15,000/= Per month or part there of

Re-Entry Pass Fee:
Ksh.1,000/=

Rollout of e-Passport

** This is to notify the General Public that the Department of Immigration will start issuing the e-Passport with effect from 1st September 2017. Holders of valid current passports will be allowed to use them for the next 2 years i.e to 31st August 2019 after which they will be rendered invalid.

** Please note that the department will no longer be issuing the current Ordinary, Diplomatic and East African passports.

Additional Simplified Procedure

To apply for a Student Pass in Kenya, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Register with the eFNS portal.
2. Apply for a student pass.
3. Submit your application.
4. Pay the application fee.
5. Obtain a notification of approval.
6. Pay the permit fee.
7. Obtain a student pass.

Here are the detailed steps on how to apply for a Student Pass in Kenya:
1. Register with the eFNS portal. You can do this by visiting the eFNS website and clicking on the “Register” button. You will need to create an account and provide your personal information, including your name, email address, and contact number.

2. Apply for a student pass. Once you have registered with the eFNS portal, you can apply for a student pass by clicking on the “Apply Now” link. You will need to select the type of pass you are applying for, which in this case is a Student Pass. You will also need to provide information about the educational institution you will be attending, such as the name of the institution, the course you will be taking, and the duration of your studies.

3. Submit your application. Once you have completed your application, you will need to submit it by clicking on the “Submit” button. Your application will be reviewed by the Department of Immigration Services and you will be notified of the outcome within 1-2 weeks.

4. Pay the application fee. If your application is approved, you will need to pay the application fee of KES 5,000. You can pay this fee online or at any bank in Kenya.

5. Obtain a notification of approval. Once you have paid the application fee, you will be issued with a notification of approval. This document will confirm that your application has been approved and that you are eligible to apply for a student pass.

6. Pay the permit fee. The permit fee for a Student Pass is KES 10,000. You can pay this fee online or at any bank in Kenya.

7. Obtain a student pass. Once you have paid the permit fee, you will be issued with a student pass. This document will allow you to study in Kenya legally.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind when applying for a Student Pass in Kenya:
** You must be a citizen of a country that is not a member of the East African Community (EAC).
** You must have been accepted by an educational institution in Kenya.
** You must have a valid passport.
** You must provide a medical certificate.
** You must provide a police clearance certificate.

    1. Information available from the Official Website :
      Kenya Student’s Pass Requirement New and Renewal
      ** A duly filled, signed and stamped application Form 30, by the institution’s authorized personel (Both new and renewal cases) . You will print out the form at the end of the application for a Student pass. In case you want to reprint your application form, you can do so by going to “My Applications” section here
      ** Detailed and Signed Cover letter addressed to the Director of Immigration Services from the institution indicating the course to be pursued and the duration – both new and renewal cases
      ** Signed commitment letter from the sponsor – both new and renewal cases
      ** National passport copy of the sponsor – both new and renewal cases
      ** Proof of funds for self-sponsored students – both new and renewal cases
      ** For minors, consent letter from the parent – both new and renewal cases
      ** Copy of parent’s national passport and copy of birth certificate of the minor should be attached as proof of relationship (for minors). – both new and renewal cases
      ** Copy of a valid national passport both new and renewal cases (the bio-data page)
      ** Current immigration status for the pupil/student- both new and renewal cases (If in the country)
      ** Two (2) recent passport size color photos. – both new and renewal cases
      ** Duly certified Copies of basic academic certificates for those joining Tertiary Institutions and Universities -new cases
      ** Documents in foreign languages should be translated into English by either the Embassy, Public Notary, or authorized /recognized institution -both new and renewal cases
      ** Copy of the school’s/college registration certificate from the Ministry of Education – new cases
      ** Clearance letter from Department of Refugee Affairs for refugees. – both new and renewal cases
      ** Certified copies of progress report/transcripts obtained(by the issuing institution) -for renewal cases
      ** Copy of student’s pass previously held -for renewal cases
      ** For minor attach a copy of parent’s kenya residence permit if not a boarder.
