How To Apply For Single Status in Bhutan?

Apply For Single Status/Marriage Status (Judiciary). This concern letter is issued usually for those who wishes to marry a foreigner.

Procedure:
** Apply online for a Single Status under the Judiciary tab on the G2C portal.
** Choose the court where you want to avail the service
** Upon submission of the documents online you will receive a SMS saying that your application has been successfully submitted
** The dealing court official upon verification of the submitted documents will give the appointment date and time which will be conveyed through the SMS.
** The party has to come to court along with documents mentioned in the checklist, the application and two recent passport size photos of on the date of appointment.

Note:
If the party cannot appear before the court in person then he/she has to authorize another person. However, such authorization has to be verified by their employer or someone with an official seal. The person authorized has to submit an application along with the authorization letter.

Documents Required For Bhutan Single Status Application

** Certificate of consent and certificate stating the marital status signed by parents/head of the family/foster parents/adopted parents.
** Authentication certificate from the gup stating the marital status and from the thromde focal person for those whose census is with thromdes/municipals
** Copy of the citizenship identity card of parents/head of the family/foster parents/adopted parents and of any person from whom a certificate of consent is given.
** Birth certificate of child/children if any or declaration otherwise.
** A relationship certificate (family tree/census) duly issued by the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs to establish the parent-children/relatives relationship.
** Copy of Adoption documents or any other document evidencing foster/adoption relationship.
** A copy of divorce agreement/judgment, whichever is appropriate, if previously married and divorced. (if mutually divorced then copy of old mc is required)
** A copy of death certificate of the deceased spouse, if previously married and widowed. (if applicable)
** A legally signed application stating the intent.
** Two recent passport size photographs and original documents during date of appointment.
