Renew Your Practising Licence Online :

All registered electrical workers must hold a practising licence to carry out prescribed electrical work. This is a requirement of Section 95 of the Electricity Act 1992.

You must renew your practising licence before 30 June every two years.

After that, you need to renew your licence and pay the appropriate fees every two years.

Competence programme training must be current when applying for renew of your practising licence.

To renew your practising licence manually:
If renewing your licence using the form, you need to allow at least 10 working days for processing, and an additional 10 days for postal delivery of the licence card.

To renew your practising licence online:
What you need before you start:
** Your credit card (we accept Visa, MasterCard or Amex)
** Your RealMe username and password

How to use the online process:
** Log on to Electrical workers/ Organisations online services (external link)
** Select the RealMe logon and enter your user name and password
** Select Online Forms tab
** Click on electrical worker relicensing process
** Read the Annual Relicensing page and press continue
** Check personal details, add required information and press continue
** Click on ‘I wish to apply for a practising licence’
** Check and process Safety training and press continue
** Add credit card details for payment and enter
** Once completed successfully, you can download your invoice/receipt
** Press continue to complete process

If renewing your licence online, you need to allow at least 10 working days for postal delivery of the licence card.

Your safety training must be up to date when you apply to renew your licence:
To renew a practising licence you must also have passed approved courses in electrical safety, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid, within a specified timeframe.

Issuing of cards :
New licences :
** All registered electrical workers must hold a practising licence to carry out prescribed electrical work. A licence ID card is issued once you are registered and uplifted a practising licence for the first time. You may pay for your practising licence at the same time as applying for registration.

Relicensing :
** After that, you need to renew your licence and pay the licence fee every 2 years.
** A new card is issued stating that you hold a current practising licence until the new expiry date on the card. You don’t need to upload a new photo when you re-license but you may choose to do so at that time.

Lost or replacement cards :
** If your card is stolen, lost or damaged and you need a replacement, complete this form and send it with the replacement fee to the address given on the form.
