What is NWT Social Worker Licence?

The Social Work Profession Act came into force as of January 1, 2012, which provides for the licensing of social workers in the NWT to ensure that only qualified individuals be able to call themselves social workers. Pursuant to this legislation, all individuals using the title or holding themselves out to be Social Workers are required to be licensed. Registrants are required to meet continuing competency requirements each year in order to maintain licensure. How To Apply NWT Social Worker Licence?

To Apply NWT Social Worker Licence, the procedure are given below

Registration:
The Social Work Profession Act came into force as of January 1, 2012, which provides for the licensing of social workers in the NWT to ensure that only qualified individuals be able to call themselves social workers. Pursuant to this legislation, all individuals using the title or holding themselves out to be Social Workers are required to be licensed.

The Act provides for two categories in the social work profession:
** Registered Social Worker (R.S.W.) which will require a Bachelor of Social Work
** Licenced Social Worker (L.S.W.) which will require a Diploma of Social Work

Requirements For Social Worker Licence

The Requirements For Social Worker Licence Registration are given below
1. Complete application form, passport size photograph attached.
2. Certified True Copy of Social Work degree and diploma.
Note: Foreign graduates must provide a certified true copy (by a Notary Public) of the degree/diploma as well as a certified true copy of the letter from the Canadian Association of Social Workers confirming Canadian Standard equivalencies were met.
3. If previously licensed, a Certificate or Letter of Standing is required from each jurisdiction where you have been licensed. To be mailed directly to the Registrar in the NWT from the jurisdiction of licensing.
4. Up to date resume outlining work experience.
5. Criminal Records Check A complete RCMP Criminal Records Check (CRC) along with a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required. You must request both from the RCMP using the enclosed Letter of Authorization Form. Please ensure to type your name and the date on the letter before printing and submitting to the RCMP.
6. Three references are required from individuals who can speak of applicant’s professional work and character. Our required forms can be found in the application package and must be mailed directly to the Registrar from the referee.
7. Photocopy of birth certificate or citizenship documentation (if Canadian citizen), or valid immigration or work permit (if not a Canadian citizen).
8. Cheque, money order or credit card authorization, payable to Government of the N.W.

Registered Social Worker Registration (RSW) $161
Licensed Social Worker Registration (LSW) $161
