What is HSS NWT Health Care?

The NWT Health Profile describes the health status of residents by focusing on key public health issues that have an impact on the whole of the population. In a series of short one page infographics, the Profiles present an overview of the complex factors that influence and shape NWT’s population health status. These Profiles expand our understanding of the health of residents and give decision-makers and practitioners the information they need to take action. All eligible NWT residents should register to get an NWT Health Care Card.It is important that you carry your health care card with you at all times.

To Apply For Renew NWT Health Care Coverage, the procedure are given below

If your card has expired by more than one year, you will be asked to submit a new Application for Health Care and include proof that you live in the NWT.

When Do You Need To Renew Your Health Care Card?

** You will need to renew your health care card every three years.
** Your health care card will expire on your birthdate.
** Check the bottom right-hand corner of your health care card for the expiry date.

You are responsible for renewing your health care card. Renewal can be completed four months in advance of the expiry date. The NWT Health Care Card Renewal Form may be accepted earlier if you have a Temporary Absence Form on file with the Health Services Administration office.

Fees For HSS NWT Health Care

There is no fee to apply for NWT health care.

Prerequisites for NWT Health Care

Legal right to be in Canada:
1. For Canadian Citizens:
** A copy of your birth certificate from a Canadian province or territory;
** A copy of your valid Canadian Passport or Canadian Citizenship Certificate; or
** A copy of your status card issued by Indigenous Services Canada.

2. For Permanent Residents/Landed Immigrants:
** A copy of your Permanent Resident Card (front and back).

3. For Foreign Nationals:
** A copy of your Study Permit (confirmation of school enrollment is required); or
** A copy of your Work Permit or other document issued by Immigration Canada.
