1. Changing the Name on Your Driver Licence

You can:
** Complete a replacement licence application. This costs $38.20
** Change the name when your current licence or endorsement expires.
** The normal licence or endorsement renewal fee applies
** Change your name when applying for any other licence classes or endorsements.
** The normal licence or endorsement application fee applies

a. If you’ve changed names several times, the agent may request to see all of your original certificates and name change documents.
b. This is so they can track the name on your current licence through to the name you want to appear on the new licence.

To apply at an agent, you’ll need to:
** Fill out an application form [PDF, 137 KB]
** present evidence of your identity
** pay the replacement licence fee of $38.20.

2. Changing the Gender details on Driver Licence

** Your gender isn’t printed on your photo driver licence: it’s only recorded in the Driver Licence Register.
** If you want to change your gender recorded on the Driver Licence Register, you can do this when you’re making any type of driver licence or endorsement application. Just write your new gender on your application form and we’ll update it in the Driver Licence Register.
** If you’re not due to make an application soon, but you want your gender to be updated in the Driver Licence Register, call us on 0800 822 422.

3. Change Of Address

You’ll need your New Zealand driver licence to do this online.
If you don’t have a New Zealand driver licence or you want to change the address for an organisation, you’ll need to complete a different form.
