Preschool Assessments :

Parents or guardians who make an application for their children to be enrolled in the government preschools are assessed by the Department of Social Services, School Welfare Division on behalf of the Ministry of Education.

Eligibility :
** Bahamian citizens or permanent residents.
** Parents or guardians who reside in the catchment areas for the preschools.
** The child must be four years of age by the end of September.

Process :
** The parents and/or guardians visit the preschool and complete the relevant application forms.
** The forms are forwarded to the Department of Social Services, School Welfare Division for assessment.
** The social worker in the School Welfare Division completes the assessment on the parents/guardians and child/children for possible placement.
** The Ministry of Education Selection Committee reviews the assessments and grants approval or non approval.
** The Principal informs the parents or guardians of the outcome of the application.

The relevant application forms can be obtained from the Preschool.

No supporting documents are required for this service.

Turn-around time :
The application time varies depending on when applications are submitted.

Deadline :
Application forms should be completed at the school between December to February prior to the beginning of the school term (September).
