How To Apply For Switzerland Covid Certificate Online?

To combat COVID-19, access to certain publicly accessible facilities and events is currently restricted to people with a valid COVID certificate (vaccinated, recovered or tested negative). Are you a non-Swiss national visiting Switzerland without having a place of domicile in Switzerland? How much does it cost?
If you are Swiss or have another official residence permit or a permanent place of residence in Switzerland, the procedure is free of charge. If you do not meet any of these requirements (e.g. you are a tourist), there is a processing fee of CHF 30.

How long does it take to be processed?
Processing times can vary from canton to canton. Please contact the canton responsible if you have not received a decision on your application after 5 working days, stating the support code. You can find contact information for the relevant cantonal office at the following link.

What is the process after my request has been filed?
You will receive a confirmation email as soon as you have successfully completed the application form. If your application is approved and you provided a transfer code (personal ‘pick-up code’ that can be generated by the ‘COVID Certificate’ app), the certificate can be downloaded directly into your ‘COVID Certificate’ app. Otherwise, you will receive a secure download link via email. If your application is rejected by the canton, you will also be notified via email.

My request was rejected. Now what?
If your application has been rejected, you will receive an email from the canton stating the reason for the rejection. You can submit a new application (for which you may be charged again) if a piece of information was missing, for example. Otherwise, you can contact the canton directly to discuss what to do next.

What terms of use apply?
The basis is the COVID-19 Certificates Ordinance. The national COVID certificate application platform is defined in Article 26a. Reasons for application rejection and for the requirement to submit additional documents are to be found in Article 7 paragraphs 4 and 5.

In what language is the COVID certificate issued?
You can select the language in the application form. Please note that your COVID-19 certificate will be issued in English as well as in the language you select.

What documents are needed to apply?
People resident in Switzerland who have been vaccinated or recovered abroad require a valid identity document for their application as well as proof of complete vaccination abroad or a positive molecular biological test result (PCR test) from a foreign laboratory.

Persons without a residence permit in Switzerland (tourists) need a valid identity document for their application, proof of complete vaccination abroad or a positive PCR test (molecular biological analysis) from a foreign laboratory and proof that they are travelling to Switzerland (e.g. hotel accommodation, ticket)

The vaccination certificate must contain the following information:
** Surname and first name(s) as stated in your identity document
** The country in which you were vaccinated
** The office that issued the vaccination certificate
** Details of the vaccine used
** The number of vaccine doses received, as well as the number of vaccine doses needed for complete vaccination in your country
** Stamp and signature of the person or office that carried out the vaccination

For what vaccines can I apply for a COVID-19 vaccination certificate in Switzerland?
1. Swiss citizens and persons with a residence permit or place of residence in Switzerland can apply for a COVID-19 certificate through this office if they have been fully vaccinated with one of the following vaccines: Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech), Spikevax (Moderna), Covid Vaccine Janssen, Vaxzevria /Covishield (AstraZeneca).

2. Swiss citizens and persons with a residence permit or place of residence in Switzerland who have been fully vaccinated with the Sinopharm BIP, Sinovac or Covaxin vaccines must appear in person at the canton to obtain the certificate. It is not possible to apply via this system.

3. Foreign nationals without a residence permit or a place of residence in Switzerland (e.g. tourists) can obtain a COVID-19 certificate through this office if they have been fully vaccinated with one of the following vaccines: Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech), Spikevax (Moderna), Covid Vaccine Janssen, Vaxzevria/Covishield/… (AstraZeneca), Sinopharm BIP, Sinovac, Covaxin (Bharat Biotech).

In what countries is my COVID-19 certificate valid?
1. For Swiss citizens and residents of Switzerland who were vaccinated abroad, depending on the vaccine administered:
a. Vaccination with a vaccine that is on the EMA list (including licensed products): Switzerland and EU/EFTA states*.
b. Vaccination with a vaccine that is only on the WHO Emergency Use List: according to the specifications of the member state.

2. For persons not resident in Switzerland (e.g. tourists) who have been vaccinated with:
a. Vaccine that is on the EMA list (including licensed products): in EU/EFTA states* in accordance with the requirements of the member state
b. A vaccine that is only on the WHO Emergency Use List: only Switzerland

I have been vaccinated with Sputnik V. Can I get a COVID-19 vaccination certificate?
No. Sputnik V is neither approved by the EMA nor included on the WHO Emergency Use List and therefore does not qualify for a COVID-19 certificate.
