MECA Permit for Collecting Specimen of Natural Life

This service is provided for researchers engaged in study programs in order to regulate the process of collecting specimen from Oman terrain and coasts.

Who can request this service:
Omani national or resident researchers.

Steps to follow to request the service:
a. Process steps First: Application process and required data:
Submitting an application to get a permit.

Filling in a form (attached) showing:
Type of specimen to be collected.
Targeted Location.
Duration of collection.
Description of the project of the scientific research.
Name and address of the researcher, or the entity he represents.
Provide a copy of the research.

Second: Action process:
Reviewing the application and ensuring correctness of data, the permit will be issued and delivered to the applicant.

b. List all forms/applications that need to be completed to apply for the service:
A form for collecting specimen shall be filled in.
A copy of the research or a sample of the project plan shall be submitted.

Special conditions if any applicable:
The permit shall be used for scientific purposes only.

How the service is processed:
The applicant will be informed by a phone call or an email, or he may present in person.

How long will it take:
Based on the data submitted, the issue of the permit may take one or two weeks.

** Best Tourist Destination Prize in 2008 by “Vogue Magazine” and ” Conde Nast Traveler Magazine”.

** Muscat Municipality received a prize for the best experiences and practices of public services provided to the public. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations in early 2002.

** The environmental program (Human and Environment) received the silver prize at the 11th Gulf Festival for Radio and Television – Manama / Bahrain.

** Represented by the Office of Environmental Conservation, the Sultanate won the Environmental Information Prize for the film “Arabian leopard in the Sultanate of Oman”.
