Register At Child Care Centre :

The Child Care Centre supported by The Ministry of Social Development has always given orphaned children the utmost attention and care to insure the best social environment for their upbringing.

The Child Care Centre was established in 1995, under the supervision of the Directorate General of Women and Child Affairs.

The intention of this service is to reveal the child’s hidden talents and aims at providing the following assistance :
** Provide basic needs of shelter, food and clothing.
** Provide general health services.
** Provide psychiatric and emotional care according to age.
** Provide a positive environment to enrich their social and cultural upbringing to improve their overall self-confidence.
Provide educational opportunities for children beginning at pre-school and supporting with general education skills throughout their educational career.
** Provide general day to day needs such as shelter, food etc…
** Providing health services such as supervision of feeding and food, cleanliness of cloth and general health habits of self and environment.
** Provide psychiatric and emotional care by fulfilling their psychological needs e.g. love and care according tot heir age. The benefit of this service extends to revealing their talents and working on supporting and integrating them with others in the centre, and provide mental health are for those who need it.
** Provide care to enrich their social and cultural upbringing by teaching them positive habits and bonding their relationship with the society inside and outside the centre, which will give them the self confidence.
** Provide education chances to children starting at pre-schools and general education schools including necessities and space to study.

Who can request this service :
Orphaned Omani children who have no natural or foster family

Steps to follow to request the service :
A. Process Steps :
** A child is accepted by the centre after all necessary information is received and verified.
** A complete medical check-up is conducted ensuring the child has no contagious diseases.
** Confirm the child is registered in the Birth Registry with the Ministry of Health.
** Register the child with the birth registry department of the civil register.
** The child is accepted into the centre by a “Notification of Receipt Form” to be signed by both handing and receiving authorities.
** A file is opened in the name of the child.

What documents are needed to process :

** A medical form must be submitted ensuring the child has no contagious diseases.

Special conditions if any applicable :
The foster family :
** Must be a Muslim Omani family
** Family should consist of a husband and wife. In exceptional cases, a child can be placed with a single woman.

Fostered to a single woman :
** Must be of good conduct.
** Must be able to care for the child as prescribed by the social study.
** Medical certificates from all host family members confirming no family member has any contagious diseases.
** Must have no children. The proper authorities can give an exemption to this regulation.

How the service is processed :
The child is accepted by the centre the same day

How long will it take :
Applications are processed within 30 days from the date of submission
