Transport Zimbabwe Vehicle Registration Procedure

Requirements

** Application form (CVR4)
** Customs Clearance Certificate issued by ZIMRA
** Police Clearance/CVR clearly shown on the CVR4 form

** Copy of Insurance Policy document
** Photocopy of acceptable own personal identification in the form of Zimbabwe

** National Identity Card, authentic and valid Zimbabwe Driver’s Licence, Zimbabwean Passport
** Proof of residence in form of Electricity Bill, Bank Statement etc

** Submission of proof of payment of import duty, [Asycuda] receipt
** Application fee of USD160.00
** Agents – ZIMRA, CVR, POST OFFICE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES

Change Of Vehicle Ownership Application Requirements

Submission of the following documents is a must :
** Application form (CVR4)
** Most recent previous owner’s registration book
** VAT Certificate issued by ZIMRA

** Police clearance/CVR clearly shown on the CVR4 form
** Copy of Insurance Policy Document
** Photocopy of acceptable personal identification in the form (e.g Zimbabwe

** National Identity Card, Zimbabwe Driver’s Licence, valid Zimbabwe Passport)
** Proof of residence in the form of an Electricity Bill, Bank Statement, etc

** Payment of fees through Zimpost and selected Municipality offices.
** Selected Agents – Zimpost Offices and cities of Bulawayo and Harare
** Application fee of USD160.00

Change Of Plates/Replacement Of Lost/Damaged Plates

** Application form (CVR4)
** Current vehicle registration book [original/duplicate as the case maybe]

** Photocopy of acceptable personal identification in the form of Zimbabwe Identity Card, Zimbabwe Drivers Licence, Zimbabwe Valid Passport
** Formal Police report (Acceptable)

** Copy of Insurance Policy
** Proof of residence, Electricity Bills, Bank Statement etc
** Proof of payment from the approved registering office(s)
** Application fee of USD160.00

** ZIMRA, CVR, POST OFFICE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES
NB. Completed applications for the above are delivered to the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR) for auctioning, data capturing and storage.

Conversion Of Old Number Plates To New Number Plates

Pre-conditions :
** The vehicle must be already properly registered and appearing in the old vehicle registration system.
** Completion of an application form for conversion or change of plates.

** Police Clearance issued by VTS or CVR clearance.
** Submission of proof of residence (in the form of an electricity bill, water bill, bank statement, or a statement from a credit store).

** The registering officer will issue a new registration book, a set of vehicle security number plates, third plate, after payment of the registration fees due.
** The old number plates are then surrendered to the registering officer who should formally acknowledge receipt of same.

** The old number plates are then collected by Central Vehicle Registry for disposal (the old check-letter based plates are taken to Harare Remand Prison for disposal and recycling as scrap metal).

** The security of the old plates remains a responsibility of the registering offices such the depository Zimpost Post offices and appointed Municipalities (eg. Harare and Bulawayo) until such time they have been collected by CVR for final disposal. The plates are kept in a strong room by these agents who do business on behalf of CVR.
** Application fee of USD160.00
