Our Programmes :
The Polytechnic Ibadan through its Board of Studies lay high premuium on academic excellence. The academic programmes and regulations have been carefully drawn up to enable academic staff and student know what is expected of them.
The Polytechnic Ibadan runs mainly National Diploma and Higher National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in all of our Faculties. At present, there are five faculties namely: Engineering, Science, Environmental Studies, Financial and Management Studies and Business and Communication Studies.
Academic Planning :
The center was created in 2006 in order to meet the challenges of educational planning and administration in our institution.
The objectives of the unit include the followings :
** to collect, analyze, store and disseminate relevant data that are to be in academic decision making.
** to standardize academic programmes being offered in the institution; and to maintain data bank on academic activities.
CPBS- Center For Preliminary And Basic Studies :
Centre for Preliminary and Basic Studies (CPBS) was set-up as a separate entity as from 2002/2003 academic year to administer the operation of Pre-ND Programme and it was then known as Centre for Preliminary Programme (CPP).
Previously Preliminary programmes were being run alongside with the regular school programmes such as ND and HND.
The purpose was to update the General Certificate of Education (GCE) ordinary level and SSCE Pass Grades of potential National Diploma Candidates to Credit Level Passes as a prerequisite to undergoing National Diploma.
Pre-ND programme is a terminal programme; therefore its students are not regarded as regular students of the institution.
About Us :
The Polytechnic, Ibadan was established in 1970 as a successor to the erstwhile Technical College, Ibadan under the provisions of a principal Edict cited as the Polytechnic, Ibadan Edict 1970.
This Edict has undergone several amendments in order to make the Polytechnic relevant to the present day needs of Oyo State, the Proprietor in particular and Nigeria in general. The primary function of the Polytechnic is to provide for students training and development of techniques in applied science, engineering, environmental science and commerce.
