Create a User Account :

The Bahamas Online Tax Administration System (OTAS) allows a person to create an online user ID and password for secure access to the online tax services offered.

Once you have a username and password, you can log-in to the system to :
** Communicate with the tax office by sending and receiving messages via the “Tracker” and Online Enquiries

** Manage your tax accounts : Submit Tax Returns, Make Payments, Amend Tax Return, Apply for Refunds, Request Changes to taxpayer information
** File objections and appeals

The homepage provides several points from which you can sign-up for a free user account and it only takes a few minutes. You must have a valid eMail account to register.

Without a user account you will only have the ability to access :
** General information about the Online Tax Administration System
** Information about what you may need to know before registering a taxpayer

** Quick links to Government Business Portal, Citizens & Residents Portal, Forms On-line and Contacts
** General information about the online tax services offered

Who should use this system?
1. An Individual who is a Sole-Trader/Proprietor or other individual who needs to :
** file and pay taxes,
** apply for refund,
** communicate with or send an enquiry to the department, or
** conduct business with the Government.

2. A person(s) that will be doing work on behalf of a Non-Individual (that is a Company, Partnership, Non-Profit/Charitable Organisation, International Organisation, Embassy/Diplomatic Mission, or such) that needs to :
** file and pay taxes,
** apply for refund,
** communicate with or send an enquiry to the department, or
** conduct business with the Government.

Eligibility :
Persons must be 18 or older. Persons between the ages of 12 and 17 may register at this site only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Process :
Signing up for an online user account is free and easy.
1. First, access OTAS by typing the web address vat.revenue.gov.bs in your browser

2. Access ‘Create Account’ page by clicking :
** Sign up for free button or
** Sign Up – Create a free online user account link or
** The Create Account tab

3. The “Create Account” page displays. Complete registration form which requires the following details :
** Your Name (first, middle initial, and last)
** Your Contact Phone Number

** Your Email Address
** Create your Password
** Your Date of Birth
** Your Country of Birth

** Your Current Residential status
** Your ID Type
** Your ID Number

4. Mandatory fields are marked with .
5. You will be required to read and agree to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Once you have done this, check the box to agree to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy,

6. For security and integrity, you will complete the CAPTCHA box by simply typing in the characters exactly as you see them (this includes capital letters and numbers, and spaces)

7. Click the “Create my Account” button at the bottom of the page.
8. Finally, you will receive a message stating :
** Your registration was successfully submitted

** Your username will be sent to the eMail account provided.
9. Once you obtain your username, you may click the log-in link/button

10. To fully activate your account, the first time you log-in you will have to select and answer three (3) security questions. If you forget your password or your account becomes locked, you will need this information to reset the password or unlock the account.

Note : if your account is not activated within 90 days it will be deleted and you would have to create a new one.
