Immigration Extension of Stay

Persons requesting a period longer than the time previously granted can make an application to the Immigration Department at the Headquarters.

Requirements :
** $100.00 application fee
** Valid ticket for duration of stay
** Valid passport
** One (1) Photo

** Any other document to support the application ( eg Doctor’s letter, etc)
** Spouses of long term work permit holders who are applying for an extension of stay must produce a Police Certificate of Character (PCC)
** A copy of the bio-data page of the applicant’s valid passport

FAQs :
1. Do I have to bring in the completed form myself or can someone bring the form in for me?
You are required to submit the completed form yourself except in special circumstances.

A person can bring in the form on behalf of another person if evidence of the following is produced :
** The applicant is an elderly person
** The applicant is incapacitated
** The applicant suffers from a mental/physical disability or is severly ill

2. For how long is the passport valid?
A passport for a child under sixteen is valid for (5) five years. An adult passport is valid for (10) ten years.

3. How long does it take to process a new passport.
10 working days. However there is a facility to pay an additional fee to receive the passport before the 10 working days.

4. Is it possible to have application forms mailed? Or would I have to visit the Immigration Department to collect them?
Forms can be collected from the Immigration Department, the Wharf, or from the General Post Office or they can be downloaded from the Department’s website.

5. Do I have to collect my passport or can I have someone collect it for me?
You are required to collect your passport except in special circumstances.

** The applicant is an elderly person

** The applicant suffers from a mental/physical disability or is severly ill

For Persons Over Sixteen years of age :
** The previous passport if not applying for the first time
** The completed form
** Two photos
** Birth certificate
** Barbados ID card
** Marriage certificate – if married and female
** Divorce document – if divorced and female
** Citizenship document if not a citizen by birth
** Deed poll if applicable
** Any other documents, as requested

Minors / Persons under 16 years of age
** The previous passport if not applying for the first time
** The completed form
** Two photos
** Birth certificate
** Barbados ID of parent
** Deed poll if applicable
** Any other documents, as requested
