Your very OWN Post Office right in YOUR SMART PHONE! Yes, in your phone. BotswanaPost brings to you its very own mobile App that allows users to conveniently access post office services on their phone.

Although the Mobile App currently enables users to purchase prepaid electricity only, the aim is to allow users to also transact third party payments, purchase airtime and further allow our valued customers access the range of products and services we offer.

After downloading the app, the user then Registers and creates a profile of which they will use to make purchases. Registration requirements include a valid email address, Meter number and Cellphone number. Having registered, Users are then able to buy prepaid electricity.

1. How long do you keep Mail item at Post Office?
The item is kept for one month and after a month the item is returned to the sender.
2. How do I know that my item has arrived?
You can track with National Operations Control Centre; a first notification receipt is issued to your Post Box on arrival of the item if it’s a traceable item. A second notification is issued after seven days and a third notification is issued if the item is still not collected.
3. How will someone know if they have an item to pick up at the post office?
There is a mail item advice slip put in the mail box to alert the customer for registered mail and parcels.
For ordinary mail items which cannot fit in the mail box, a call card is issued to notify the customer to collect the item through the counter. For those who have signed for short message service alerts they will be notified through sms
4. Which mailing procedure can be used for items to be delivered at a preferred location, within the shortest time period possible?

About Us :
The Postal Services is probably one of the oldest public services in Botswana, having been established in 1875 by the London Missionary Society. In those days, pairs of “runners” carried mail between various points on a stretch from Bulawayo up to Mafikeng.
Historical records indicate that these runners (men on foot) carried up to 15542 postal items of mail per annum. Subsequently, the post used the train and road transport contractors to deliver mail until the late 1990s when the Post acquired its own fleet of delivery vehicles and continued to expand the mail delivery network.
The Post evolved over the years into the Bechuanal and Protectorate Postal Services. At independence it was transformed into the Department of Posts and Telegraphs with 121 Post Offices and 43 Postal Agencies.
The portfolio of services also included the Post Office Savings Bank. At this time the Post was at the centre of communication, with the letter perhaps being the fastest mode of communication after the telephone, which was however only accessible to the privileged few.
