Apply for Passport :

A passport for foreigners can be issued to foreigners with a residence permit for the Republic of Slovenia if :

** the foreigner is a person without citizenship;
** the foreigner does not have and cannot secure a valid travel document from his or her home country.

A passport for foreigners may also be issued to other foreigners without a valid travel document, provided that there are justifiable reasons to do so.

The application for the issue of a passport for foreigners may be filed personally by a foreigner who has reached the age of 18 years or a foreigner who has legal capacity, respectively.

The application for the issue of a travel document for foreigners under the age of 18 years or for foreigners who have no legal capacity is filed by their legal representative. The application for the issue of a passport for foreigners is filed with the administrative unit in the area in which the foreigner resides.

The passport for a foreigner who is in the country is issued by the administrative unit where he intends to reside or by the administrative unit where he resides, while the passport for a foreigner who is abroad is issued by the diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Slovenia abroad.

The passport for foreigners may be issued with a validity of up to two years, unless :
** the foreigner files an application for a passport with a shorter validity period or

** a shorter validity period is sufficient for the purpose for which the passport was issued.

Foreigners shall immediately, and if this is not possible within eight days of discovering the misplacement, loss or theft of passports, report the misplacement, loss or theft of passports held by foreigners in the Republic of Slovenia to any administrative unit, which notifies the administrative unit which issued the passport of the misplacement, loss or theft.

If the passport was issued by a diplomatic or consular representation of the Republic of Slovenia based abroad, the misplacement, loss or theft shall be reported to the administrative unit of the area where foreigners resides.

Foreigners must report the misplacement, loss or theft of his passport abroad immediately or, if this is not possible, at the latest within eight days of discovering it, to the closest diplomatic or consular representation of the Republic of Slovenia abroad, which then notifies the administrative unit which issued the passport of the misplacement.

In compliance with the Administrative Fees Act, the fee for the application for the issue of a passport for foreigners amounts to EUR 4.21 and for the issue of a passport for foreigners EUR 25.21; this is a total of EUR 29.42.

The price of the form for a passport for foreigners is equal to the price of a passport with 32 pages that is determined by the rule covering the pricing for forms for travel documents and amounts to EUR 26.50.
