How To Use NHIF Pay Online Service?

We have introduced a far more efficient & faster method of collecting employers monthly payroll byproducts to NHIF via the online Byproduct system.

Rather than sending hard copy documents or email of the same to NHIF, you can just register and upload it once you login. This makes processing faster and reduces the chances of human error. We only accept Microsoft Excel files (.xls or .xlsx )

How To Submit Byproduct Online?

1. Register your Company
To use the Byproduct Online service, you must register your company first. To register, click on “Register” as illustrated below.

2. Login to your account.
Once you’ve registered successfully, click on “Login” as illustrated below and fill in your login details in the login box.

3. Validate your Byproduct
Once you’ve logged in, the following screen will appear. Click on Browse to select your byproduct file (must be in Excel format) and click Validate Byproduct.

Note : Make sure your byproduct complies with the current byproduct sample format as illustrated below.
NB : If you’re using Microsoft Office Excel 2007, kindly follow these simple steps to save your byproduct in the required format.

** Download the current byproduct sample to your desktop and open it.
** Open your byproduct file, copy and paste your byproduct information into the current by product sample (which will overwrite what is in the sample)

** Finally, close your byproduct file and save your newly copied file. Once you’ve followed these steps, you may continue to upload your byproduct.

4. Submit your Byproduct
If the byproduct validation is successful, then the following box will be displayed. Click on Submit Byproduct.

5. Get your Eslip with your Byproduct Number.
Once you’ve submitted your byproduct, the following box will be displayed which contains your Byproduct Number. Note down this Byproduct Number before you close this box. The Byproduct Number will be used at the bank when making your payment.

6. Make your Payment at the nearest National Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank or Co-operative Bank.
Fill in your details in the Bank Deposit Slip as illustrated in the example below. Remember to fill in the Byproduct Number that you noted earlier.

7. Get a receipt
Once you’re payment has been processed, you will receive a receipt to confirm your payment as shown below.

About Us :
National Hospital Insurance Fund is a State Parastatal that was established in 1966 as a department under the Ministry of Health.

The original Act of Parliament that set up this Fund in 1966 has over the years been reviewed to accommodate the changing healthcare needs of the Kenyan population, employment and restructuring in the health sector. Currently an NHIF Act No 9 of 1998 governs the Fund.

The transformation of NHIF from a department of the Ministry of Health to a state of corporation was aimed at improving effectiveness and efficiency.

The Fund’s core mandate is to provide medical insurance cover to all its members and their declared dependants (spouse and children). The NHIF membership is open to all Kenyans who have attained the age of 18 years and years and have a monthly income of more than Ksh 1000.

Additional Simplified Procedure

Here are the steps on how to use the NHIF Pay Online Service:
1. Go to the NHIF website: https://www.nhif.or.ke/.
2. Click on the “Pay Online” tab.
3. Enter your National ID number in the “National ID Number” field.
4. Enter your PIN in the “PIN” field.
5. Click on the “Login” button.
6. You will be taken to the NHIF Pay Online dashboard.
7. Click on the “Pay NHIF Contribution” button.
8. Enter the amount you want to pay in the “Amount” field.
9. Select your payment method. You can pay using M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or credit/debit card.
10. Click on the “Pay” button.

You will receive a confirmation message once your payment has been processed. You can also check the status of your payment by logging in to the NHIF Pay Online dashboard.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind when using the NHIF Pay Online Service:
** You must be a registered NHIF member to use the NHIF Pay Online Service.
** You must have a valid National ID number and PIN to login to the NHIF Pay Online dashboard.
** You can pay your NHIF contribution using M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or credit/debit card.
** The minimum amount you can pay for your NHIF contribution is KES 500.
** You can pay your NHIF contribution up to 3 months in advance.
