** The certificate encourages doctors and injured workers to approach return to work with a positive attitude and focus on what recovering workers can do rather than what they can’t, which supports the earliest possible return to work.

** Doctors currently complete a medical certificate that details an injured worker’s restrictions and limitations at work.

** The new certificate promotes early intervention and return to work by encouraging early discussions about capacity for work between doctors and injured workers.
** The work capacity certificate will be phased in over a six month period to allow doctors to familiarise themselves with the change.
** By 1 January 2017 it will be the only recognised certificate by Queensland workers’ compensation insurers.
** The Office of Industrial Relations welcomes feedback on the new work capacity certificate – workers’ compensation during the transition phase.
** Please email certificatefeedback AT justice.qld.gov.au
