How to Pay Your Council Tax :

** Beware of email scams
** Delete emails telling you that you are in credit and to claim back council tax.
** These are not from ourselves.

Online and Direct Debit payment dates :
** It takes around 5 working days to receive your payment.
** Set your payment date to be at least 5 days before the due date on your bill.

Pay by Direct Debit :
** Save time with a safe, worry free payment and relax knowing the bill will be paid.
** Choose the date to pay, and spread your payments over 10 or 12 months.

Pay your bill online :
Forgotten to pay
** If you have forgotten to pay and the due date has passed, pay now over the phone by debit card.

Other ways to pay :
Use the barcode on your bill to pay at :
** Post Office – By cash up to a value of £1,000.
** By cheque up to the same value at certain post offices only.
** PayPoint outlet with cash up to a value of £200

Post offices accepting cheques :
** Pay at your bank (by Direct Debit or Standing Order)
** In February 2015 we transferred our banking from the Co-operative Bank to Barclays Bank.
** If you regularly make electronic payments (other than by Direct Debits) to ourselves, then you will need to inform your bank and amend your payment details.

Your payment doesn’t show on your bill :
** If the bill or other document we have sent you does not show all of the payments you have made you must contact us immediately.
** We need to find out why this is.
** It will help us to trace your payment if you tell us how you paid – the name of the post office, BACS, internet, the date this was paid and the amount you paid.
** When we have this information we can investigate why this does not show on your account.

** You can pay your Council Tax bill over the phone using our Automated Telephone Payments (ATP) system which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
** Payments can be made by debit card and will be credited to your account the same day.

** A pen and paper if you wish to record the receipt number
** You will be asked a series of questions and you will respond by pressing the appropriate numbers on your telephone’s key pad.
