How To Apply For A Visa In The UK :

** The Embassy has outsourced its visa services to the external service provider VFS.
** Visa applications can be submitted at VFS’ offices in London and Edinburgh.

** If you wish to apply for a Schengen visa you will have to schedule an appointment with VFS and apply in person at their visa application centre

** Please read all information provided on the VFS website regarding the necessary documents and procedures.
** For questions regarding your visa application, processing time and supporting documents, please contact VFS by email info.schengen AT vfshelpline.com or telephone: 0871 376 0023.

** Please try to apply as early as possible, especially during the summer months and before public holidays.
** You may apply for a visa up to three months before you start your trip.
** ONLY applications from residents in the UK can be accepted.

** Diplomatic passport holders in the UK may still lodge their applications with the Embassy.
** Please contact the Embassy on 020 7591 5500 for more information.
** Holders of Official or Service passports need to make an appointment on the VFS website
** Please note that it is possible to book an appointment for a Schengen visa directly at the Embassy.
** However, there are only a very limited number of appointments available each day and they are usually booked weeks in advance.
** For an earlier appointment and a faster service it is recommended to book through VFS.

Appointments :
** All applicants must book appointments and apply in person.
** Please note that no postal applications can be sent to the Embassy.
** Postal applications that are addressed to the Embassy will be returned to the sender without being processed.

Applicants for business visas may send their applications by post if they are employed by one of the following companies :

Supporting documents for visa applications :
1. One recent colour passport size photograph
** The photos must be less than 6 months old, have a light background and be of good quality (must be taken in a photo booth or by a professional photographer).
** For more information, please click here (please do NOT use paperclips or staples to attach the photos to the application form).

2. Evidence of occupation / student status
** Proof of your current occupation in the UK, e.g. an original letter from your employer.
** Please make sure that the letter is on headed paper, contains a contact name and number and is duly signed.

** If your employer will be financially responsible for you during your stay(s) in Norway / Schengen states and / or has health insurance for you (must be valid in all Schengen states and have a minimum cover of EUR 30,000), the employer should confirm this in this letter.

If you are a student in the UK :
** An original letter from your college or university confirming your status / attendance.

If you are self-employed :
** A letter from your solicitor, accountant, the Inland Revenue, etc.

If you are unemployed :
** Proof of income from DSS.

3. Invitation / Evidence of accommodation and sufficient funds :
** For business trips: Original letter of invitation (less than 3 months old) from your foreign business partner explaining the nature and duration of stay applied for and whether it involves single, double or multiple entries (and evidence of accommodation, e.g. confirmed hotel reservation).

** Please make sure the letter is printed on headed paper, contains a contact name and number and is duly signed. If the application is urgent, the letter may also be faxed directly (from the office in Norway) to the Embassy (fax number:+44 20 7591 5505).

** However, you may also be requested to submit the original letter before the visa is granted.
