Citizenship Application :

Who may apply :
The following persons may be considered for Singapore Citizenship :
** A Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) who is at least 21 years and has been a PR for at least 2 years.
** The person can apply together with his / her spouse and unmarried children below 21 years of age.

** Spouse of Singapore Citizen who has been married for at least 2 years, and has been a Singapore Permanent Resident for at least 2 years.
** Overseas-born child of a Singapore citizen; the parents must be legally married.

How to apply :
** Singapore Citizenship Applications can be submitted via the internet or by completing an application form and submitting it to ICA in-person.
** Application forms sent by post will not be accepted.

With effect from 1st June 2016, all applications must come with an appointment through the following means :
** Submit online via e-SC (Electronic Singapore Citizenship Application).
** You will be asked to select an appointment date after submitting the s-SC application;
** Complete a Singapore Citizenship Application form and attach all the supporting documents, then make an appointment online via ICA’s Electronic Appointment Booking System from 1st June 2016 for a date to submit the application at ICA.

Applying overseas for an overseas-born child of Singapore Citizens :
** An overseas-born child of Singapore Citizen may submit an application with the application fees through the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission.

Application Forms and Documents Required :
** You will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to read and print the following Singapore Citizenship application forms.

(a) Singapore Permanent Resident who is at least 21 years old
Complete SCRA Form and Annex A :
** If applying with spouse, spouse to complete a SCRA Form
** If applying with children, each child should complete a SCRM Form
** The completed application forms must be submitted together with these required supporting documents

Note: for married applicants, spouse’s documents are also required even if they are not applying.

(b) Spouse of Singapore citizen
** Complete SCRA Form
** The completed application forms to be submitted together with these required supporting documents.

(c) Overseas-born child of a Singapore citizen
** Complete SCRM Form
** The completed application forms to be submitted together with these required supporting documents.
** Insufficient or incomplete documents can result in non-acceptance of the application, or a longer processing time.
** Where necessary, additional documents may be required.

Documents to be retained by ICA :
** Copies of all documents and official translations of non-English documents submitted with the application shall be retained by ICA.

Non-English Language Documents :
** Documents not printed in the English language must be officially translated into English.
** Translations done by the Embassy of the document-issuing country, or a local Notary Public are acceptable.
** A privately translated copy attested by the Embassy of the document-issuing country or notarized by a local Notary Public is also acceptable.

Fees :
** A non-refundable processing fee of S$100 is payable upfront for every application submitted.
** If the application is successful, S$70 is payable for the Singapore Citizenship Certificate.
** New citizens who are above 15 years old must obtain a pink National Registration Identity Card at a fee of S$10.

Processing Time :
** The general processing time for Singapore Citizenship application is six (6) to twelve (12) months with complete documentation.
** Some applications may take a longer time to process.

Enquires and Correspondences on Citizenship Application :
** For all correspondences with ICA on citizenship application, please state the applicant’s name, NRIC number, date of birth and application reference number (if any),

National Service Liability :
** Under the Enlistment Act, all male Singapore CItizens are liable to register for National Service (NS), unless exempted.
** Upon completion of full-time NS, they are required to serve up to 40 days of Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS) annually for the duration for their ORNS training cycle, till the age of 50 years (for officers) or 40 years (for other ranks).
** All NS-liable males aged 13 and above are required to obtain an Exit Permit (EP) when travelling overseas for 3 months or more.
** Applicants are required to register for NS upon reaching 16 1/2 years old and will be scheduled for enlistment at the earliest opportunity upon reaching 18 years old.
** If they are pursuing full-time studies, deferment from full-time NS may be granted only if they meet the deferment conditions stipulated by the Ministry of Defence.

  1. I need your advice on how to apply for Spore citizenship for my son whose age is 2yrs & 5 months now and born in overseas? and What are the necessary documents to prepare with the application in overseas?
