In accordance with the royal decree issued on 25/01/1428H (13 February 2007) which assigned the responsibility for regulating pharmaceutical, biological, herbal and cosmetic preparations to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA)

Tthe SFDA is pleased to launch Middle East Medicine Prices Database (MedPrice) in order to be used as a reliable source for medicine prices at the marketed countries.

Security and Confidentiality of Data:
All data submitted online will be protected and encrypted via the MedPrice security infrastructure.

About MedPrice:
Middle East Medicine Prices (MedPrice) Database is a reliable source of medicine prices in participated countries. This database has been initiated by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) to be used as one of the pricing tools for medicines to ensure medicines availability at affordable prices.

Countries interested in this database are advised to submit their registration request, along with the authorization letter for the country’s database account manager.

Who is the authorized person?:
He is the person authorized by his or her national drug authority to manage their account in MedPrice.

What is the authorization letter?:
It is a letter for the authorized person from his or her national drug authority.

What is the mailing address?:
The mailing address should be the correspondence address, whether it was a P.O.Box address or a street address or a combination of both.

What does API stand for?:
It stands for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient, which is the pharmaceutically active substance in a drug.

What is meant by the generic name and the trade name?:
The generic name, also known as International Nonproprietary Name, is the official non-proprietary or generic name given to a pharmaceutical substance, as designated by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is different from the chemical name which is designated by the IUPAC.

While the trade name, also known as Proprietary name, is a unique name designated by each manufacturer for its own product.

What is Ex. Factory price?:
Seller owns goods until they are picked up at his factory; selling price is the cost of the goods.

What is the CIF price?:
Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) is a common term in a sales contract, which means that the selling price includes the cost of the goods, the freight or transport costs and also the cost of marine insurance.

Are there any fees for registration in MedPrice?:
No, the registration in MedPrice is free of charges.

Can non-regulatory parties (like pharmaceutical companies) register with MedPrice?:
No, the registration in MedPrice is limited only to national drug authorities.
