Apply For Study Visa :

Common Visa Class III:
The Common Visa Class III allows the holder to enter Timor-Leste for the purpose of Study.

Criteria:
The applicant must:
** Demonstrate the purpose of stay, by producing the necessary documents and statements.
** Demonstrate available income in Timor-Leste to support him/her for period of proposed stay without breaching visa conditions.
** Demonstrate accommodation arrangements.
** Hold a return ticket, or show ability to fund own departure.

Applicants must also be assessed as being of good character and health before they will be granted the visa and/or permitted to enter Timor Leste.

Important Notice:
In order to enter and remain in Timor-Leste, each foreigner must have the means to pay an amount equivalent to:
** One hundred US dollars for each entry;
** Fifty US dollars for each day expected to remain in the country.

Conditions:
The visa may be granted for,
** single or multiple entries, and
** it allows a length of stay up to one year

Please note – The Study Visa Class III cannot be applied for or granted on arrival at a border post.

Abroad:
** Visa application should usually be submitted to a diplomatic mission or consular office in the country of usual residence. (See – details of Embassies and Consulates Abroad).

** If the applicant resides in a country where there is no Timor-Leste Embassy or Consulate, the visa application should be submitted directly to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dili, Timor-Leste. (See – Department of Consular Affairs Contact details)

After arrival:
** Visa applications must be submitted directly to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dili, Timor-Leste. (See – Department of Consular Affairs Contact details)

Place of Grant:
Study Visas Class III may only be granted by Officers of the Department of Consular Affairs in Dili or at Timor Leste missions abroad.

Important Notice:
At the moment the Department of Consular Affairs in Dili and Timor-Leste Embassies/Consulates can only give a visa authorisation letter. The visa will be stamped in your passport by Immigration Service staff on arrival on presentation of the letter.

Extend your stay after arrival :
** You may apply for the following types of visa after your arrival at the Immigration Service Offices in Dili, Timor Leste.

Class III Study Visa :
Important : visa extension, you must already hold a visa of the same type

Class IV Cultural, Scientific, Sporting or Media Visa :
Important : visa extension, you must already hold a visa of the same type

Work Visa :
Important : visa extension, you must already hold a visa of the same type

Resident Permit :
Important : you must already hold a resident permit (Temporary or Permanent) which you seek to renew, or hold a Visa to Establish Residence.

Family Reunification :
Important : For immediate family of foreigners granted a residence permit.

Special Stay Authorization :
** If you are a member of staff of a designated NGO or Cooperation Organization and not already granted stay authorization by virtue of that employment, you may apply for a Special Stay Authorization at the at the Immigration Service in Dili.

Important :
** Please note that Transit (Class II) visas and Visas to Establish Residence CANNOT be extended after arrival. Holders of Transit Visas are required to depart the country before the validity of their visa ceases. If they seek to stay on another basis they must leave the country and re-enter on another type of visa.

** Holders of Visas to Establish Residence MUST apply for a residence permit before the expiry of the current visa.
** Please note, you should make any extension of further stay application BEFORE your current visa expires.
