Ordinary Passport Application & Renewal :

The Passport Division is responsible for the determination and issuance of Fiji passports to Fiji Citizens under the ambits of the Fiji Passport Act 2002. Fiji Passports are issued to those who would have acquired Fiji citizenship through birth, registration and naturalization.

Who can get a passport?:
Fiji citizens only

Who needs to fill out this passport application form?:
The applicant or any matured/literate persons

Fiji issues three types of passport:
1. Ordinary Passports, is issued to Fiji Citizens. It is bright blue and valid for ten years.

Requirements:
1. completed application form
2. original birth certificate (full extract)
3. marriage certificate for change of name by marriage
4. 2 passport size colored photographs (certified and signed by the same person witnessing the form)
5. valid photo identification card
6. $76.00 FJD

2. Renewal of Ordinary Passport:
Requirements
1. completed application form
2. 2 passport size colored photographs (certified and signed by the same person witnessing the form)
3. old passport book
4. $76.00 FJD

3. Renewal of Passport (Lost/Valid):
1. completed application form
2. original birth certificate (full extract)
3. 2 passport size colored photographs (certified and signed by the same person witnessing the form)
4. police report
5. statutory declaration form
6. valid photo identification card
7.. $190.00 FJD

4. Diplomatic Passports, issued to the President and spouse, the Prime Minister and spouse, Government officials working in Diplomatic Missions and Government Ministers. It is scarlet red and valid for ten years but subject to duration of appointment/official status.

5. Certificate of Identity (CI), issued for emergency purpose to facilitate travel can be issued to non-citizens and is mostly valid for one trip only.

Issuance of Fiji Passports is centralized which means that no matter where in the world they may be lodged, they are referred to Suva for determination and issue. A CI may be issued by our diplomatic missions overseas but only to facilitate emergency travel.

Fiji’s passports includes an ICAO compliant Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) at the bottom of the bio-data page and therefore meets the minimum ICAO requirements. The passports have some basic UV features and watermarks. A photo and signature is affixed to the passport and covered by a laminate. The documents are valid for ten years.

Note:
all applications for urgent issue will need to pay an additional fee of $114.00 FJD
all fees submitted from abroad will need to reflect the exact converted amount in Fijian currency and need to be in the form of a bank cheque or bank draft payable to the Department of Fiji Immigration and can be withdrawn from a local bank in Fiji

Processing Time:

Standard service:
The standard time to process an application is up to 5 working days. The processing begins from when the Department received the correctly completed application form with all the requirements needed to issue the passport. Applications from outer stations and our foreign missions , standard time to process an application is about 21 days as extra time should be allowed for delivery to and from passport office

Urgent Service:
The urgent processing of an application is one working day. The processing begins from when the department receives the correctly completed application form and has all the information needed to issue a passport. For requests from the centres the processing period will depend on the time the application is received by headquarters.

vii. Certificate of Identity $140.00
viii. Emergency Passport – $190.00

How long is the passport valid for?:
Standard and Diplomatic passport – Ten [10] years from the date of issue.
Emergency and Certificate of Identity – One [1] year
