Getting Married in Croatia :
In order to get married in Croatia all inquiries should be addressed to the Registry office which will conduct the ceremony.

All documents issued by the British authority have to be legalized at the Legalization Office with an Apostille stamp and translated into Croatian by an official interpreter in the UK (a list of Croatian interpreters in the UK is available in the Consular Section of this web site) or by a certified court interpreter in Croatia.

Registering marriage in Croatia :
Croatian nationals who have married overseas – including in the UK – are obliged to register the marriage in the Republic of Croatia.

This can be done at the Registry Office in the Republic of Croatia according to the place of residence (address in the passport), or through the Croatian Embassy.

A UK marriage certificate must be legalized by the Legalization Office with an Apostille stamp and translated into Croatian by an official interpreter in the UK (a list of Croatian interpreters in the UK is available in the Consular Section of this web site) or by a certified court interpreter in Croatia.

If a marriage is registered through the Embassy, the request must be submitted in person during office hours.

Time frame : the average duration of proceeding when an application is carried out through the Embassy is 3 to 6 months (due to the diplomatic post); while registering at the Registry Office in Croatia can be done quicker (in a day).

Fee : 29 GBP. The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents while conducting legally obligatory proceedings related to each request filed.

What it costs :
** The standard service costs £30 per document, plus courier fees or postage.

Rest of the world £25 per 1.5kg

If you don’t want to pay courier fees :
** Your documents will be returned by courier but if you’re in the UK you can have them returned by post. You must include an A4-sized envelope with the return address written on it. Attach enough UK postage stamps to cover the return postage.

How long it takes :
** It normally takes 2 working days to process your documents using the standard service, plus courier or postage time. Applications during peak periods around Easter and summer can take up to 10 days.

Premium same-day business service :
** The premium same-day business service is for registered businesses only and costs £75 per document.
** Documents must be taken to and collected from the premium office in central London.
** You need an account to use the premium service. Sign in if you’re an existing user or create an account.
