The accepted forms of payment are by Visa, American Express, Master Card, and Discover credit cards. If you want to renew both your APRN and RN license click the Registered Nurse Renewal link and it will take you through both renewal applications.

You must already have a renewed RN license in order to use the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Renewal Application. At the completion of the renewal application you will be presented with a receipt page which should be printed as proof of payment. You will also be sent a receipt to your email address on record.

Please make sure we have your current email address. You may update your email address by visiting the My Profile section of the website. You will be able to verify your license online within 30 minutes of the completion of your online renewal application.

All Louisiana licensed Registered Nurses (RNs), except those issued their initial Louisiana RN license during 2014, must be in compliance with LSBN nursing continuing educational (CE) requirements for renewal/relicensure prior to renewing their license for 2015. If you mark yes to any one of the disciplinary questions you will have 60 days from the completion of this online application to provide any/all information, documents, records, reports, evidence, and/or items as requested by the Board/Board staff or else your RN License shall be subject to immediate invalidation with change of status to inactive license and practice as a Registered Nurse will no longer be legal. Furthermore, falsification of this application constitutes a violation of the Nurse Practice Act and is subject to disciplinary action.

Required Documents

If licensee (RN and APRN) has been deployed for at least six (6) months military service this calendar year for the United States or any of its allies, he/she may request a refund of their renewal fees. Licensee will be reimbursed after submitting a written request for refund to LSBN along with the following three (3) documents: 1) Military photo ID; 2) copy of deployment records; and 3) copy of the final receipt/payment page which will be available at the end of the on-line renewal process. Please scan all three documents and submit by email along with request for “active duty military refund” to email: verifications AT lsbn.state.la.us. You may also submit the request/documents by fax to (225) 755-7581, please include a cover sheet indicating “active duty military refund request”. ** Request for military refunds and supporting documents must be received at LSBN no later than midnight (Central Standard Time) March 1, 2015

Online License Renewal FAQ

1. When can I go online and renew my license?:
Louisiana RN and APRN licenses are calendar year licenses. Online license renewals open October 1, 2014 at 12:00 am CST (Central Standard Time). It will remain open until 11:59 pm January 31, 2015 (CST). Please note – after December 31, 2014 11:59 pm (CST) there will be a late fee of $50.00 added to each application fee.

2. What Is the deadline to process the online renewal?:
Online Renewals remain open until 11:59 pm January 31, 2015 CST (Central Standard Time). Please note – after December 31, 2014 11:59 pm (CST) there will be an added late fee of $50.00 for each license renewed.

3. Can I get a paper renewal mailed to me?:
All renewals must be completed online.

4. How long will it take to verify that my renewal has been done successfully?:
You should receive a success message at the end of the process. The LSBN licensure verification page will take up to 30 minutes to show that you have renewed successfully.

5. Will I get a paper license mailed to me after I complete the transaction?:
No. All licenses are now paperless. No paper licenses will be printed for 2015 licensure. Free online verification of a successfully renewed license can be obtained at the LSBN website under Licensure Verification 30 minutes after completing the online renewal application process.

6. How do I change my email address?:
You can change your email address in the My Profile section of the website. You are also prompted to do this during the renewal.

7. I forgot my password. How do I change it?:
On the login page, click the link that says “If you have lost your Password, click here”. You will be prompted to enter your personal information and the answer to your “secret question”. You will then be allowed to change your password.

8. I forgot my secret question. How do I get it reset?:
Send an email to webissues@lsbn.state.la.us with the following information
** Full Name
** Email Address
** RN License Number
** APRN License Number (if applicable)
** Date of Birth
** Current Home Address, City, State, and ZIP
** Employer’s name
** Name of the Nursing School you graduated from
** City, State (and country if not USA) of Birth

After receiving and verifying this information, your Secret Question and Answer will be reset. This will allow you to reset your password. Please allow up to 1 working day to receive a response.

9. Can I make a name change while completing my renewal?:
No, not during the renewal. Changing your name requires submitting a written request along with a copy of official documentation of the name change. Please complete a Name Change Request Form and mail the documentation to the Board or fax to (225)755-7581. You can check at the website whether the change has been made by verifying your license through the Licensure Verification service.

10. Can I make an address change while completing my renewal?:
You will be asked to verify your address at the beginning of the renewal process, where you will be allowed to change it if out of date. If you check the boxes that say “Check this box if your home address has not changed” and “Check this box if your business address has not changed”, the system will ignore what has been typed in. You may also update your mailing address and contact information at any time during the year through My Services at the LSBN website.
