Registration And Accreditation :

The registration of institutions and their courses gives confidence to students, parents, employers, Government and all stakeholders, that training content, student assessment and certification meet specified standards.

Direct cash payment to the office during office hours, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

.Students and parents are able to identify recognized training providers and courses. Institutions benefit as the registration and subsequent guidance by the TVEC helps improve the internal and external efficiency of the training provided by them. Recognition by the Government consolidates the status of training institutions thus improving their access to resource support from various agencies. The Government is able to achieve its objective of maintaining an effective training system that can meet the human resources needs of the economy.

Registration of training institution is done according to the clause No. 14 of Tertiary and Vocational Education Act no. 20 of 1990. The criteria for the institution registration were gazetted in the government gazette (extraordinary) No. 887/8, dated 7th September 1995 to assure the quality and relevance of TVET sector in the country. Adequacy and relevance of infrastructure, training equipment, teacher qualification, curricula and training delivery are evaluated at the registration stage

Instruction for completion of the application :

Following mentioned supportive documents should be submitted along with duly completed application form.
1 Sketch of the training centre.
2 Location indicating the distance from the nearest town/city and access road to the institute.
3 List of training equipment with specification (Please use the given format for computer courses)
4 Summary of the curriculum and detailed curriculum (Please provide this information in the form of format given, Annexure 1, Annexure 2)
5 Bio data of instructors and copies of certificates to support their vocational qualifications.

The charges for provisional registration are as follows. :
1 Treasury funded public sector institutes Rs.1500.00
2 Private and Non-Government institutes Registration application must be forwarded with registration fee of Rs.3000.00 Grade belonging to the institute will be determined at the Institute evaluation.

Payment could be made in one of following ways. :
Cheque in favour of Deputy Director (Finance), Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

Handing over of the application can be done either of following way :
1 Handing over to Standards and Accreditation division of Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.
2 Posting the application to
Director (Standard and Accreditation),
Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission,
“Nipunatha Piyasa”, No. 354/2,
Elwitigala Mawatha, Colombo 05.

Institutions are graded based on Registration Assessment Criteria and Grades are given below. :
Grade C : Marginally acceptable for provisional registration.
Grade B : Fully acceptable for provisional registration.
Grade A : Having obtained Grade B or C and over 50% of the courses are accredited.
Grade A+ : Having obtained Grade A and Quality Management System (QMS) is established.
Note: Renewal application for registration should reach to TVEC before three (03) months from the date of expiry.
