National Employment Service :

The National Employment Service (NES) consists of a network of eight (8) employment centres, strategically located at Port of Spain, Chaguanas, Tunapuna, Sangre Grande, San Fernando, La Brea, Siparia, Tobago and the Overseas Placement Section – the recruiting and processing office for the local leg of the Farm Programme.

One Stop Career Resource Centres (O.S.C.R.C) facilitate the traditional job referral activities and provide a walk – in service whereby job seekers can directly access job vacancies through bulletin boards and online postings. Manpower Officers also offer personalized assistance to jobseekers with resume writing and training in the job search.

Services Offered:
** Register and interview jobseekers;
** Record job vacancies;
** Match workers to job vacancies;
** Recruit workers on state-supported programmes;
** Investigate and report on work permit applications;
** Recruit and place workers on the Overseas Employment Programmes;
** Provide vocational information to schools and institutionalize in-house World-of-Work seminars

Accomplishments:
New National Employment Service Information System:
The National Employment Service in Collaboration with the IT Department, completed works on a new automated information system. The re-introduction of this system is expected to redound to the benefit of all stakeholders – the staff of the NES, the employer clients, and the jobseeker clients. The website will be a tool to enhance the recruiting process, increase awareness of the NES, provide employers with access to a larger group of prospective employees, allow the jobseeker clients more opportunities for promotion and enhance their job prospects.

Re-opening of the Point Fortin One Stop Career Resource Centre:
The Point Fortin One Stop Career Centre was re- opened in March, 2011 to facilitate the access of citizens from Point Fortin and environs to employment or training opportunities.
