How To Apply For Transit Permit of Livestock Products?
This service allows farmers to move animals across the country to their Destination Country. Origin should NOT have major Notifiable diseases for such livestock e.g. foot and mouth for cattle, Newcastle for chicken and African swine fever for pigs.

Documents Required For Transit Permit of Livestock Products
** Transit permit from other transit countries
** Import permit from Destination country
** Export permit from origin country
** CITES permit in case of Game animals
For Dogs and Cats:
** Valid rabies immunisation record (For dogs and cats)
** Kittens and puppies under 3 months old (Proof that the mother (dam) was vaccinated against at least one month but not more than 12 months prior to giving birth
** Proof that there are no movement restrictions for rabies control in your destination area.
** Submitted the pets to the office for inspection before issuance of any permit
** Veterinary Movement permit
** Veterinary Health certificate or Health card
** Rabies Certificate
** Document must be in English
Restriction on importation of wheat flour:
(1) No person shall import wheat flour except under and in accordance with a written permit issued under these Regulations.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1) an import permit shall not be required for the importation of wheat flour donated to the Botswana Government or any organization or person for purposes of drought relief or for the importation by any person of an amount not exceeding 12,5 kg of wheat flour for his personal consumption.
Application For Import Permit :
(1) An application for a permit to import wheat flour shall be made to the authorised officer, and such application shall contain such information, and shall be accompanied by such documents, as may be specified by the authorised officer.
(2) A person who is granted an import permit under these Regulations shall pay a 15% levy on all types of wheat flour that he imports.
(3) Subregulation (2) shall not apply to a consignment of flour donated to the Botswana Government or any organization or person for purposes of drought relief, or to the importation, by any person, of an amount not exceeding 12.5 kg. of wheat flour for his personal consumption.
Issue of Import Permit:
Where the authorized officer is satisfied that an applicant for a permit under regulation 4 is a fit and proper person and that such person has complied with all the conditions specified for the issue of a permit he may authorize such person to import wheat flour on such conditions as may be specified in the permit.
Appeal Against Refusal To Issue Import Permit:
Any person aggrieved by the refusal of the authorized officer to issue him with an import permit under these Regulations may appeal to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry whose decision thereon shall be final.
Penalties:
Any person who imports any wheat flour into Botswana without an import permit or contravenes any provision contained in a permit issued to him shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction thereof shall be liable to the penalties prescribed in section 5 of the Act.
